Your Team Responsibilities

The Storage Engineer sits within the Technology & Data Services Infrastructure Engineering team. The team owns the design, delivery, and long-term integrity of enterprise storage platforms — NetApp ONTAP and Pure Storage — across multiple global datacenters, cloud environments, and regional offices. Working closely with compute, networking, and application teams, the team drives platform strategy, technology adoption, and engineering-led automation across the storage estate.

Your Key Responsibilities

• Design and implement automation for storage provisioning, capacity management, and operational workflows using Python, Bash, and IaC tooling (Terraform, Ansible, or equivalent).
• Drive reduction of manual toil through scripted workflows and self-service enablement; own the automation backlog for the storage domain.
• Build REST API integrations against storage platforms (NetApp ONTAP, Pure Storage) and develop reporting tooling and scripted operational pipelines.
• Contribute to storage DR strategy implementations, platform upgrade workflows, and post-change validation — executed and validated largely through automation.
• Design and implement Kubernetes-attached storage via Astra Trident, including persistent volume strategy and protocol selection.
• Engage business and application stakeholders on capacity planning and platform roadmaps; produce engineering documentation, architecture decision records, and runbooks.
• Own RCA delivery for storage-related incidents and drive permanent fix implementation through safe change practices.

Your skills and experience that will help you excel

Core (essential):

• Strong proficiency in Python for infrastructure automation — REST API integrations against storage and network platforms (NetApp ONTAP, Pure Storage, Cisco MDS), reporting tooling, scripted operational workflows.
• Solid Linux systems skills — shell scripting, service management, troubleshooting in enterprise Linux environments (RHEL/OEL/Debian).
• Bash scripting for scheduled jobs, log parsing, and operational tooling.
• Comfortable operating across both Agile delivery and BAU contexts; familiar with ITIL practice areas and enterprise ITSM platforms (ServiceNow preferred).
• Strong communication skills, able to translate technical depth into stakeholder-facing outputs; experience producing architecture documentation and runbooks in a globally distributed environment.

Nice to have (can be developed on the job):

• Familiarity with enterprise storage platforms such as NetApp ONTAP (C-Mode, SVM, SnapMirror) and/or Pure Storage (FlashArray, FlashBlade) — deep expertise is not required on day one; solid platform grounding will develop through hands-on work.
• Working knowledge of SAN protocols (iSCSI, FC, NFS/CIFS) and SAN fabric management ( Cisco MDS zoning and host masking).
• Exposure to Kubernetes storage concepts (Astra Trident, PVC/PV lifecycle).
• Experience with IaC tooling (Terraform, Ansible) in a GitOps model.
