This position can be home-based, but you must live near a major airport.

Responsibilities

Leads a department that evaluates, develops, and commercializes medical/scientific programs and products. Coordinates the full lifecycle of program initiatives from concept through market introduction, ensuring alignment with American Heart Association scientific principles and guidelines. Partners with Science & Medicine teams and scientific committees to translate research into marketable offerings that drive revenue growth and meet customer needs. Responsible for enhancing existing programs and evaluating new opportunities to expand market share and organizational impact.

Responsibilities

  • Own and implement the global growth and business development strategy, driving revenue expansion, market penetration, and strategic partnerships across priority geographies, while aligning commercial priorities with organizational mission and long-term impact.
  • Lead and scale a high-performing, globally distributed business development organization, establishing enterprise sales discipline, pipeline rigor, and cross-functional partnership to deliver balanced growth and expand market share.
  • Lead the evaluation, approval, and development of new program ideas, product improvements, and strategic extensions that improve healthcare quality and align with the American Heart Association’s mission. Directs strategic collaboration with revenue leadership to secure and maintain program funding while ensuring organizational alignment.
  • Ensure American Heart Association research findings and scientific principles are effectively integrated into market-ready programs, driving evidence-based medical and scientific offerings.
  • Supervise all phases of the program lifecycle, from inception to market launch, ensuring each stage meets clinical relevance, customer needs, and revenue objectives.
  • Partner with Science & Medicine teams, Development, Marketing, and Fundraising/Sales to establish product specifications, ensure successful implementation, and align program goals with business strategies and science.
  • Work closely with internal and external scientific volunteers, advisory boards, and committees to establish program credibility, relevance, and adoption within healthcare communities.
  • Assess program feasibility, market demand, and competitive positioning to resolve revenue and market share potential. Lead initiatives that enhance financial sustainability and long-term impact.
  • Track key performance indicators (KPIs), analyze outcomes, and implement enhancements to optimize the effectiveness and success of healthcare programs. Oversees budgeting, resource allocation, and performance tracking, ensuring projects meet financial and operational targets.

Qualifications

  • Advanced degree in Health Care and/or Business.
  • Eight (8) years of experience and five (5) years of supervisory experience.
  • Demonstrated leadership in global healthcare business development, with deep expertise in enterprise sales, strategic partnerships, and market expansion, coupled with strong financial acumen and the ability to translate complex offerings into clear, value-driven propositions.
  • Excellent communication skills (interpersonal, verbal, and written), including the ability to communicate complex issues simply and accurately with internal and external audiences.
  • Ability to work, solve problems, and make decisions in a fast-paced, goal-oriented environment.
  • Cardiac, Stroke, Resuscitation, Atrial Fibrillation, Acute MI care, knowledge/experience.
  • Ability to travel up to 30% domestically and internationally.

Preferred Experience:

  • Twelve (12) years of experience.

Compensation & Benefits

Salary minimum to the midpoint of the range is $138,100.00 to $184,200.00. Pay is commensurate with experience; geographic differentials may apply to the pay range. This position is eligible for an incentive, with the potential to earn up to 22% of your base pay. The American Heart Association reserves the right to pay more or less than the posted range.

  • Performance and Recognition – You are rewarded for achieving success through annual salary planning and incentive programs; this position is incentive eligible based on achieving certain targets. This position is eligible for an incentive, with the potential to earn up to 22% of your base pay.
