The Vice President, Partnerships serves as a proactive, field‑first business partner to NFP’s Health & Benefits organization. This role is accountable for building, activating, and evolving carrier and strategic partner relationships that directly support producer success, client outcomes, and Health & Benefits growth.

In alignment with NFP’s entrepreneurial, consultative culture, this role shifts traditional “carrier relations” toward a customer‑centric partnership model, where the field—not the carrier—is the primary customer. Success is measured by relevance, impact, and value delivered to the field.

Strategic Context at NFP:

NFP’s Health & Benefits platform is built on local expertise, national scale, and long‑term relationships Partnerships are a strategic lever, not a transactional function, and must strengthen NFP’s advisory positioning, differentiate the field in the marketplace, and support sustainable growth.

The VP, Partnerships translates national strategy into practical, field‑ready partnership execution while maintaining flexibility for local market needs.

Key Responsibilities:
Field‑Centric Partnership Leadership
  • Serve as a trusted, proactive business partner to the field, regularly engaging producers and market leaders.
  • Actively identify where producers are facing challenges and where partnerships can add value.
  • Ensure partnership strategy is informed by field insight and grounded in real client and market needs.
Carrier Relationship Strategy & Value Creation
  • Lead carrier relationships with a clear expectation of measurable contribution to field success.
  • Shift carrier engagement from transactional activity to strategic collaboration, education, and innovation.
  • Align carrier priorities with Health & Benefits growth strategies and advisory focus areas.
Sponsorships, Events & Experiences
  • Partner with field leadership to identify priority events where sponsorship strategy can enhance impact.
  • Design purpose‑driven sponsorship frameworks aligned to business objectives.
  • Reimagine “boondoggles” to go beyond traditional ski and golf—using experiences to intentionally:
    • Strengthen strategic carrier relationships
    • Deepen field engagement
    • Reinforce NFP’s professional brand
Thought Leadership & Carrier Panels
  • Curate carrier panels featuring true industry leaders and subject‑matter experts.
  • Ensure content delivers actionable insight, innovation, and relevance to field priorities.
  • Position NFP events and forums as differentiated, high‑value experiences.
Reporting, Insights & Transparency
  • Deliver clear, actionable reporting to the field on:
    • Books of business
    • Carrier penetration
    • Strategic opportunities
  • Translate data into insights that support field decision‑making and growth.
Collaboration & Leadership
  • Partner closely with Health & Benefits leadership, practice leaders, marketing, and operations.
  • Act as a visible, solutions‑oriented leader who enables the field rather than creating friction.
  • Set the standard for modern partnership management at NFP.
First‑Year Priorities:
  1. Reset the Partnership Model
    • Establish a field‑first operating mindset across partnerships and carriers.
    • Conduct structured listening sessions with producers and leaders and translate insights into action.
  2. Elevate Carrier Accountability
    • Reassess carrier relationships through a value‑to‑field lens.
    • Differentiate strategic partners from transactional relationships.
  3. Modernize Sponsorships & Events
    • Align sponsorship dollars and experiences to defined field objectives.
    • Introduce more intentional, business‑relevant engagement models.
  4. Improve Visibility & Insight
    • Deliver consistent, trusted reporting that the field can use.
    • Use data to inform partnership prioritization and strategy.
Success Metrics:
  • Improved field perception of partnerships as a value‑add function.
  • Increased proactive engagement from producers seeking partnership support.
  • Clear alignment between carrier activity and Health & Benefits priorities.
  • Purpose‑driven events and sponsorships with documented field impact.
  • Reporting that drives action, not just transparency.
Qualifications & Experience:
  • Senior leadership experience in Health & Benefits, partnerships, or carrier management.
  • Deep understanding of field dynamics and carrier ecosystems.
  • Proven ability to build trust, influence stakeholders, and deliver outcomes.
  • Strategic, consultative, and execution‑focused leadership style.

  • Transactional Sponsorship Management
Maintaining legacy sponsorships without strategy or accountability.
  • Event Planning Without Purpose
Entertainment‑only boondoggles without clear business or relationship outcomes.
  • Passive or Reactive Support
Waiting for issues instead of proactively engaging the field.

  • Reporting for Reporting’s Sake
Data that lacks clarity or usefulness for the field.
  • Gatekeeping or Bureaucracy
Slowing the field or saying “no” without providing better alternatives.
