VP of Talent, Software Solutions | New York, NY (Hybrid) · $75,000–$150,000

About the Role:

This role owns the search for a rare technical talent profile as a technology company overhauls how it delivers client projects. Instead of typical HR sourcing, the position requires deep fluency in the technology talent market — knowing where this specific kind of hybrid technical talent lives, how to reach it, and how to evaluate skills that don't fit conventional benchmarks. The person in this seat will shape the company's hiring strategy from the ground up as the business model itself is being redefined.

Key Responsibilities

Talent Strategy & Sourcing

• Identify where to find candidates who combine technical development ability, client-facing communication, and independent problem-solving
• Build and manage relationships with specialized recruiters and networks within the technology space
• Lead sourcing efforts directly when needed, rather than relying solely on outside recruiters

Candidate Assessment & Attraction

• Develop new evaluation criteria for a role type where traditional performance history doesn't directly apply
• Advise on compensation and offer strategy to compete for talent in a high-demand market
• Assess candidates' technical depth, client instincts, and ability to operate independently on projects

Retention & Team Design

• Help design the structures and incentives needed to retain high-performing, independently operating talent
• Partner with leadership to help shape how the company organizes and manages this new way of working
• Expand into broader HR functions — engagement, retention, conflict resolution — as the hiring pipeline matures

Qualifications

• Proven experience recruiting specifically within the technology/software development space
• Established network and relationships within the technical talent market
• Comfortable operating with strategic autonomy, beyond a traditional compliance-focused HR function
• Skilled at evaluating non-traditional skill sets where past performance alone isn't a reliable indicator
