Job Description

Employment Type: Hybrid (3 days on-site in Shiner, 2 days remote from Houston, San Antonio, or Austin)

Texas Precious Metals has gone from zero to over $2 billion in annual trading volume in 15 years. A subsidiary of Kaspar Companies, TPM is vertically integrated across a retail and wholesale trading platform, a minting operation under the Texas Mint brand, and a depository network spanning Texas, the Cayman Islands, Switzerland, New Zealand, and a COMEX-designated vault now open in New York. The depository business has doubled its income every year for seven consecutive years. The company is approaching $30M+ in annual net income and has a five-year target of $100M. The e-commerce business is the fastest-growing segment. The customer base is on pace to more than double this year. The business is on pace to be two to three times its current size within 24 months. TPM is now launching into capital markets with the first two precious metals ETFs domiciled in the United States on NASDAQ this May, with two additional equity products following in Q4.

The Opportunity
Growth at that pace into regulated exchange operations and new financial products means the finance function needs to scale with it. TPM operates as a non-banking financial institution across physical commodity operations, institutional financial products, multi-currency international vaulting, and e-commerce, with regulatory requirements and interrelated operations spanning multiple countries. The accounting architecture supporting all of it reports into this role. TPM is hiring a VP of Finance & Administration to own the full function, report directly to the CEO, and design the accounting infrastructure, systems, and team for the next stage of growth.

What You’ll Own
This role spans three operating segments (e-commerce/trading, storage, and the capital markets entity) with additional reporting responsibilities to the Kaspar Companies parent. It covers both the hands-on accounting work and the longer-term infrastructure build. The company is on pace to be 2–3x its current size within 24 months, with the leadership team expected to expand accordingly. This person is building into an organization that is actively professionalizing across every function.

  • Capital markets accounting build TPM has two NASDAQ-listed products live with accounting infrastructure in place. You own the ongoing accounting for both as trading volume scales. The exchange-listed equity products planned for Q4 2026 require a new accounting value stream that doesn't exist yet, and you own building that infrastructure in coordination with the digital products team. As ETF metal accumulates in TPM's own COMEX facility, the depository and capital markets accounting become interlinked, and you own both sides of that ledger.
  • ERP integration and the Odoo migration TPM currently runs Sightline, Odoo (mid-migration), separate systems for storage and trading, and will need a fifth for the capital markets product. You assess the landscape, lead Odoo across the finish line, and serve as the bridge between finance and the digital products team so that system changes get evaluated for accounting impact before they ship.
  • Month-end close and audit resolution personally own the close, build a reliable cadence, and deliver clean reporting across all three operating segments plus the parent company relationship. The audit is active and needs someone who can drive it to resolution and establish ongoing readiness.
  • Multi-state compliance and risk sales tax across Texas, Idaho, and New York, with COMEX depository compliance now live as the New York facility is operational. International vaulting in Switzerland and the Cayman Islands adds additional jurisdictional complexity.
  • Org design for the next five years define what the finance and administration function needs to look like at $100M. Hire a controller beneath this role when the time is right. Build the team and the processes so the CEO can step out of day-to-day financial operations entirely. A satellite accounting and admin team in Dallas is under active consideration, and this person would shape what that build looks like.
  • Strategic counsel advise on capital allocation across the depository expansion, the financial implications of entering regulated exchange operations, and the decisions that connect the numbers to where the business is headed.

Who We’re Looking For
You've spent your career in accounting operations: the controller function, not FP&A or corporate finance. You have your CPA (or have passed all four parts and are finalizing your license). You've owned a month-end close, or done so recently enough to step back into one without a ramp. You've worked in environments with real complexity: high transaction volume, multiple entities, or inputs that move frequently. You've been hands-on with at least one ERP system and understand how integrations work, even if that understanding is more conceptual than technical. You've contributed to building out finance infrastructure during growth, whether that was new reporting, controls, or a systems implementation. Energy, commodity trading, wholesale distribution, fintech, manufacturing, and multi-entity holding company environments all translate well. So do PE-backed or high-growth companies where you had to build and run at the same time.

The qualities that matter in this seat:

  • Builder over maintainer you've taken a finance function from a simpler state to one with greater complexity.
  • Genuine tech curiosity you're comfortable in a technical conversation about how systems connect, even if you're not fluent.
  • Precision without paralysis high standards of accuracy, but you don't use thoroughness as a reason to slow down when the business needs to move.
  • Communication that translates: the CEO, the digital products team, external auditors, and accounting clerks all need to hear different things from you. You adjust without being asked.
  • Self-direction with accountability you make day-to-day financial decisions without escalating and own the outcomes. When you see a problem forming, you move toward it.
  • Comfort with an involved founder the strategic seat opens up as you earn trust through competence and follow-through. You're comfortable taking direction while contributing your own perspective.
  • Cultural fit TPM operates within a family-owned business where respect and stewardship shape the culture, including norms around communication and presentation. You’re aligned with and comfortable in that environment.
