The Role:
The Vice President of Facilities Management oversees and directs all environmental services functions, provides maintenance and asset management support and oversight to communities, and manages national service contracts as well as CAPEX efforts.
This is a remote position that requires approximately 75% nationwide travel, with weekend and holiday availability as needed. The ideal candidate will reside within convenient proximity to a major airport to support the travel requirements of the role.
As the Vice President of Facilities Management, you will:
- Ensures all Environmental Services Directors maintain the safe functioning of all community mechanical systems, including but not limited to plumbing, electrical, HVAC, elevators, kitchen, and other systems.
- Collaborate with Executive Directors and Regional Vice Presidents of Operations to recruit, hire, train, onboard, and lead community Environmental Services Directors, and actively engages in retention activities to ensure adequate staffing levels.
- Ensure all Environmental Services Directors complete tasks to comply with Company and Community policies and procedures as well as Federal, State, and Local regulations
- Ensure all Environmental Services Directors attend and pass orientation, onboarding, online trainings, etc., in order to comply with Federal and State training requirements
- Oversee and train team members in the TELS program (Company Preventative Maintenance Program) and other maintenance and community safety programs, and fire and evacuation procedures.
- Determine priority of maintenance and repair tasks and collaborate with executive director to reallocate funds when special projects arise.
- Works with Regional Vice Presidents of Operations and local teams on extraordinary or one-off maintenance needs requiring the assistance and or approval of Senior Leadership.
- Manage the Capital Expenditure Program and expenditures by working with Regional Vice Presidents of Operations and local teams on capex requests, estimates, and vendor bids and project execution within budgetary guidelines.
- Identify major repairs requiring third-party vendors and negotiate rates.
- Responsible for working with community leaders in developing budgets related to the CAPEX program
- Serve as project management lead on company remodels, renovations.
- Provide input during the design and construction process on items being incorporated into the design/spec and presents good, better, best options as requested
- Create and maintain digital and hardcopy library of community blueprints.
- Assists senior leadership with onboarding new acquisitions.
- Oversees procurement platform specific to maintenance and asset management
- Monitor contract compliance, spend compliance and usage
- Streamline workflows, spend management protocols and the approval process
- Analyze spend categories and assist Leadership members with spend in their areas as assigned.
- Ensure community awareness of and compliance with Safety Data Sheets (SDS) policies and procedures.
- Ensure each community has emergency procedures documented and on file and reviews annually for updates related to elopement, fire, emergency evacuation, and natural disasters.
- Perform other duties as assigned
Requirements:
- Ability to manage, coach and mentor others.
- Ability to effectively prioritize and manage multiple maintenance projects simultaneously.
- Strong interpersonal skills.
- Strong computer skills with emphasis in Excel, Teams, and other Office products.
- Physical ability to walk properties and facilities in order to diagnose building issues and plan repairs or maintenance.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to travel nationwide 75% with weekend and holiday availability as needed
- Must have a valid driver’s license with clear driving record
- Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing.
- Maintain any certifications as required by state or provincial regulations.
