Job Description

Overview

Cambridge Consultants is seeking an experienced business development professional to drive growth of our MedTech business across Asia Pacific. Cambridge Consultants has established healthcare businesses in North America, Europe and Japan, and is now looking to build a pipeline of new client relationships across the broader Asia-Pacific region.

Working closely with our global Healthcare team and business development colleagues in Japan and Singapore, you will identify, develop and secure high-value opportunities with healthcare and MedTech organisations across the region. This is a hands-on commercial role focused on generating and winning new business while providing market insight that informs the evolution of the Healthcare business.

You will be identifying the right conversations, engaging senior stakeholders at organisations with real budget — whether well-funded start-ups or multinationals — across our drug delivery, diagnostics and monitoring, and complex medical device sectors, and working with our technical teams to shape and win proposals.

The successful candidate will bring a genuine, senior network among healthcare and MedTech decision-makers in the region, credibility to engage confidently at executive level, and a willingness to roll up their sleeves and remain involved throughout the entire cycle from business development until successful project completion.

What you'll be doing

The role requires strong commercial instincts and confidence selling large opportunities. You will engage senior decision-makers, build trusted client relationships, shape compelling propositions and secure complex innovation, product development and technology consulting programmes. Given our deep tech focus, these conversations have to start early, well before a full requirement is defined.

Business Development:

  • Grow MedTech business across APAC, particularly outside Japan.
  • Build relationships with senior executives and decision-makers.
  • Lead opportunities from initial engagement through contract award.
  • Maintain a robust pipeline and deliver growth objectives.

Strategic Contribution:

  • Provide customer, market and competitive insights.
  • Identify emerging trends and opportunities.

Collaboration:

  • Partner with healthcare colleagues globally.
  • Work collaboratively with the business development team in Japan to coordinate client engagement and share market intelligence.
  • You work hand-in-hand with our technical teams to secure new client contracts and will often stay part of the team throughout the lifetime of projects.

Within the first 2-3 years, success is likely to include:

  • Strong pipeline across key APAC markets.
  • New strategic healthcare and MedTech clients.
  • Executive-level customer relationships.
  • Significant contribution to Healthcare business growth from APAC region.

What you need to succeed

  • Proven commercial leadership and/or business development experience within healthcare, MedTech or related sectors.
  • Strong track record winning complex, high-value opportunities.
  • Commercial and technical credibility to engage confidently with senior client stakeholders, shape compelling value propositions and innovation programmes.
  • Understanding of APAC healthcare and MedTech markets.
  • Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
