Purpose of the Job:
The Operations head will be accountable for overseeing operational requirements for the Fund Management Entity (FME) in International Financial Service Centre (IFSC) unit of HSBC Asset Management India Pvt. Ltd. at GIFT City. This role ensures strict adherence to HSBC Internal controls & IFSCA regulations, along with SEBI regulations wherever applicable, manages & owns processes, and acts as the key liaison with the Fund administrator/Custodian/Tax consultants & trustees while facilitating efficient functioning of the IFSC business.

The Ops head will supervise daily operations of the Gift Entity & will be reporting to principal officer at Entity Level and COO AMIN functionally.

Please note that this role will be based out of GIFT City ( initially for few weeks the person may be required to be based out of Mumbai) and the appointment of selected candidate may be subject to necessary filing and confirmation from IFSCA regarding the candidate’s eligibility.

Key Responsibilities:


A. Regulatory compliance & governance

  • Ensure all activities of the FME are conducted in accordance with the IFSCA (Fund Management) Regulations and applicable circulars/guidelines.
  • Ensure accurate and timely submission of reports/returns/statements/particulars as required by IFSCA.
  • Oversee maintenance of a sound risk management system and adequate internal controls.
  • Drive strong governance standards across operations, ensuring policy adherence and a well-controlled environment that supports growth.

B. Regulatory liaison & supervisory engagement

  • Coordinating regulatory filings/submissions and responses to IFSCA queries/observations.
  • Supporting inspections by ensuring cooperation, timely information production and access to records.
  • Coordinate with external auditors/service providers to support timely audits and regulatory readiness.

C. Risk management, AML/KYC and control environment

  • Oversee risk assessment and mitigation frameworks, operational risk controls and internal control testing/enhancement.
  • Close coordination with AMIN CCO to ensure regular review of risk and controls are undertaken.
  • Ensure compliance with AML/CFT norms as applicable including Adjudication of various sanctions and AML alerts escalated to FME by the Administrator/ TA as per the business processes and timely escalation of true alerts to Compliance officer.
  • Perform investor/client onboarding and ensure all the processes operate effectively (including escalation and reporting where applicable).

D. Operations management (IFSC unit oversight)

  • Perform day-to-day operations of the IFSC unit supporting AIF lifecycle activities (launch, onboarding, operations, reporting).
  • Support licensing/renewals, product/scheme approvals/filings, and operational readiness for new launches.
  • Coordinate with Finance, HR, Technology and other teams for smooth IFSC operations and effective SOP implementation.
  • Liaise with the Fund administrator/RTA /trustees and give them necessary instructions on day to day basis for a smooth functioning of the fund.
  • To perform all such acts that are necessary to ensure an error free & efficient operations for all the funds launched in Gift city.

F. Investor protection & complaints management

  • Address investor complaints and ensure immediate redressal.

Formal Qualifications / Prior Work Experience:

  • Professional qualification or post-graduate degree or post-graduate diploma (minimum 1 year) in: finance, accountancy, business management, commerce or CFA; or CA
  • 3–10 years of experience in operations within Financial Services
  • Strong understanding of IFSCA regulations (FME, AIF & Non -Retail Offerings) & SEBI regulations
  • Regulatory engagement and inspection readiness.
  • Risk and control mindset (operational risk, governance, internal controls).
  • Strong stakeholder management across front office, operations, finance, compliance and external service providers.
  • Clear written communication (regulatory submissions, board updates) and sound judgement under time pressure.
  • Prior experience in GIFT City preferred.

Eligibility Criteria

·Pro-tip : Familiarity with AI-enabled tools is an advantage.

Mandatory to successfully complete Anti-Money Laundering and Sanctions training and post-course assessment, as required.
