This role is responsible for the development, implementation, and oversight of RGA's global compliance framework, ensuring the company maintains a strong culture of integrity while effectively managing regulatory and compliance risks across its global operations.

The Vice President serves as a strategic partner and trusted advisor to business leadership, helping the organization navigate complex regulatory requirements while enabling responsible growth, innovation, and operational excellence.

Reporting to the Global Chief Compliance Officer, this leader will work to advance and oversee enterprise compliance governance, compliance risk assessments, regulatory change management, policy governance, monitoring and testing activities, compliance training and awareness programs, and specialized compliance functions. Responsibilities also include enhancing and overseeing ethics and compliance programs, including speak-up channels, whistleblower processes, and internal investigations.

The role will play a central role in advancing RGA's compliance transformation strategy and building a world-class, technology-enabled compliance organization, as well as fostering a strong culture of integrity and accountability, ensuring effective escalation, resolution, and reporting of compliance concerns.

Location: Preferred location is St. Louis, MO (RGA Headquarters) in a hybrid work arrangement ; however, fully remote candidates will also be considered.

Principle Duties

  • Serve as a trusted advisor to business leaders, providing practical and risk-based guidance that supports strategic objectives while maintaining regulatory compliance.
  • Build strong relationships with business, operational, and functional leaders to ensure compliance is integrated into decision-making processes.
  • Partner with leadership teams on new products, strategic initiatives, acquisitions, market expansion opportunities, and operational changes. Help business leaders identify emerging regulatory and compliance risks and develop commercially viable solutions.
  • Lead the design, implementation, and continuous improvement of RGA's global compliance program. Develop and maintain a comprehensive compliance framework aligned with regulatory requirements, industry standards, and company objectives.
  • Drive a globally consistent approach to compliance risk management.
  • Oversee enterprise-wide compliance risk assessments and compliance governance activities.
  • Provide executive oversight of Regulatory Compliance, Monitoring & Testing, Regulatory Change Management, Policy Governance, and Compliance Operations.
  • Lead the development of a modern compliance operating model supported by technology, automation, analytics, and artificial intelligence.
  • Develop a strategic roadmap for compliance technology investments aligned with organizational objectives and regulatory expectations.
  • Partner with technology, operations, and data teams to improve data quality, governance, and accessibility for compliance risk management purposes.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in arts/sciences (BA/BS)
  • MBA preferred
  • 12+ Years of progressive compliance, legal, risk management, or regulatory experience within insurance, reinsurance, financial services, or similarly regulated industries
  • Proven ability to build and scale compliance programs in new markets, geographies, or business environments
  • Experience implementing compliance technology, data analytics, automation, and AI-enabled solutions
  • Experience leading large, distributed teams and managing operational compliance functions at scale, including budget and resource management
  • Relevant certifications (e.g., CAMS, CCEP) or industry affiliations preferred
  • Demonstrated success leading complex multi-jurisdictional enterprise compliance programs and transformation initiatives.
  • Demonstrated ability to build high-performing, collaborative teams and foster a culture of integrity, accountability, and partnership.
  • Strong business partnership skills and executive presence.
  • Active participation in industry groups, regulatory forums, or thought leadership initiatives

Compensation Range:

$180,220.00 - $268,400.00 Annual

Base pay varies depending on job-related knowledge, skills, experience and market location. In addition, RGA provides an annual bonus plan that includes all roles and some positions are eligible for participation in our long-term equity incentive plan. RGA also maintains a full range of health, retirement, and other employee benefits.
