JOB SUMMARY

The VP, Guidewire Applications provides strategic leadership for Guidewire application standards, governance, delivery maturity, and workforce capability across MCE IT. The role serves as the senior Guidewire subject matter expert, establishes the Guidewire Center of Excellence, owns the Guidewire technology-debt roadmap, and is accountable for IT delivery of the Workers’ Compensation and Auto line-of-business expansion across PolicyCenter, BillingCenter, and ClaimCenter. The incumbent works independently and leads through influence across multiple delivery organizations and strategic partners. The Infrastructure team retains ownership of the Guidewire Cloud platform.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES

• Establish and lead a Guidewire Center of Excellence covering delivery methodology, architecture and design governance, engineering standards, reusable components, quality engineering and test automation, release and environment practices, vendor governance, and continuous improvement.
• Define Guidewire application standards, decision rights, governance forums, review processes, delivery measures, and exception management across multiple delivery organizations without owning ongoing run delivery.
• Serve as the senior Guidewire technology SME and advise executive leadership on strategy, application health, delivery risk, major design decisions, and investment priorities.
• Own and maintain the Guidewire IT technology-debt roadmap; establish a disciplined process to identify, prioritize, fund, track, and report remediation. Provide technology input into Small, Medium, and Large Initiative roadmaps.
• Establish and manage role-based Guidewire training, skills assessments, certification targets, certification currency, partner capability expectations, knowledge continuity, and succession planning.
• Own end-to-end IT project delivery for the Workers’ Compensation and Auto expansion across PolicyCenter, BillingCenter, and ClaimCenter, including scope, budget, schedule, quality, architecture alignment, vendors, risk, business readiness, operational transition, and executive reporting.
• Partner with Infrastructure, Architecture, Security, Data, Integration, Quality Engineering, Operations, business leaders, and Guidewire partners to align application delivery with Guidewire Cloud capabilities and enterprise standards.
• Evaluate and govern strategic partners, including staffing quality, certification coverage, delivery performance, technical leadership, knowledge transfer, documentation, commercial commitments, and corrective actions.
• Build trusted relationships and communicate complex technology and delivery matters clearly to senior business and IT leadership; drive strategy and outcomes independently in a matrixed environment.

JOB SPECIFICATIONS

Knowledge & Skills

Deep knowledge of Guidewire PolicyCenter, BillingCenter, ClaimCenter, and Guidewire Cloud application delivery; proven success leading large, complex Guidewire implementations; strong P&C insurance expertise; experience establishing enterprise application governance or a Center of Excellence; technology-debt and roadmap management; program, vendor, financial, risk, and executive stakeholder management; strong strategic judgment, communication, presentation, facilitation, and influence skills. Workers’ Compensation knowledge and Guidewire certifications are preferred.

Education & Experience

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, Business Administration, or a related field, with 12 or more years of progressive enterprise application and technology leadership experience. Significant P&C insurance experience and leadership of at least one large-scale Guidewire implementation are required. Prior experience with Guidewire Cloud and partner-supported delivery models is strongly preferred.

Leadership Scope

No immediate direct reports. Leads through influence across internal delivery organizations and external partners; organizational scope may evolve as the Guidewire capability matures.

WORKING CONDITIONS / ENVIRONMENT & PHYSICAL DEMANDS

Normal office environment. Hybrid working arrangement. Preferred location is Jersey City, New Jersey, or Raleigh, North Carolina. Travel is expected approximately two to three times per quarter.

For individuals assigned or hired to work in the location(s) indicated below, the base salary range is provided. Range is as of the time of posting. Position is incentive eligible.

JC: 174,800- 271,446

Raleigh: 135,500- 210,370

• Total individual compensation (base salary, short & long-term incentives) offered will take into account a number of factors including but not limited to geographic location, scope & responsibilities of the role, qualifications, talent availability & specialization as well as business needs. The above pay range may be modified in the future.
