The VP of Enterprise Engineering leads Planet’s enterpriseengineeringdomain, shaping thelongtermtechnology strategy and ensuring the delivery, stability, and evolution of core platforms. This role spanspeopleleadership, architectural direction, operational excellence, and program delivery across multiple engineering domains.
You will create clarity, buildhigh performingteams, and drive engineering outcomes that support Planet’s growth and the scalability of our platforms.
What you will do:
Define and drive the enterprise engineering strategy , ensuring alignment with Planet’s technology and business vision.
Lead and scalehigh performingengineering teams across backend, frontend, API, IAM, data, database, cloud, and platform domains.
Oversee delivery ofmission criticalplatforms and programs , ensuring reliability, performance, and compliance globally.
Strengthenengineering excellenceby modernisingplatforms, simplifying architectural landscapes, and improving development and operational practices.
Ensure operational stability and resilience , partnering closely with Cloud Ops,SysOps, Product Support, and Security teams.
Shape and govern technology decisions , influencing architecture, security, roadmapprioritisation, andcross functionalalignment.
Manage senior stakeholders across Product, Architecture, Security, Operations, and Business teams with transparency and accountability.
Systems & Platforms Under Your Leadership
You oversee a broad ecosystem ofenterprise criticalplatforms that underpin Planet’s payment processing, merchant experiences, and identity landscape. These include:
Planet PortalPlanet’s unified merchant experience platform, integrating data and functionality from multiple internal systems
Data Interchange Plane (DIP)responsible for nearrealtimedata flow, CDC ingestion,Kafka basedevent streaming, and the Canonical Data Model used across Planet Portal and other domains
Enterprise IAM:Auth0 / Planet Login,whichprovidesunified authentication acrossPlanetPortal, 3C Portal,PMSandother systemsPlanetIAMsystem is used to manage accesslevelsandpermissions to internal systems
Boarding platforms:Responsible forDigital Onboarding, ServiceactivationandIntegraPortalThese platforms are critical for onboarding andactivation ofnew merchants.
3CPortal.com:Merchant portal used by 3C gateway merchants to see details about their transactions and terminal estate.
Enterprise Service:Responsible for the design, planning and delivery of a new set of enterprise services like Card Recognition System, IntegraProxyor FraudService platform.
IXS:Responsible for batch completion platform of 3C gateway
Technology Leadership
Setlongtermengineering direction and ensure alignment with Planet’s strategicobjectives
Drive architecturemodernisation, platform consolidation, and adoption of scalablecloud nativepatterns.
Ensure engineering teams applybest in classpractices in code quality, automation, observability, and reliability.
Delivery Execution
Lead execution of major enterprise initiatives, including Planet Portal, DIP, Auth0/IAM transformation, and other strategic platforms.
Ensure strong coordination across engineering, product, architecture, and operations teams to deliverhigh qualityoutcomes.
Balanceshort termdelivery withlong termsustainability through smartprioritisationand technical stewardship.
Operational Excellence
Own engineering support models, on-callstructures, and incident/problem management quality.
Promote a culture of continuous improvement,data drivendecision making, and blameless postmortems.
Ensure compliance with industry and regulatory standards (e.g., PCI DSS).
People &Organisation
Build and mentorhigh performingteams, ensuring clear responsibilities, growth paths, and succession planning.
Recruit top talent while also fostering internal mobility and capability building across theorganisation
Reinforce ahigh trust, collaborative culture grounded in Planet’s values.
