Job Description

CPI is seeking a Vice President of Enterprise Applications & Software Engineering to lead our Salesforce, enterprise applications, and custom software engineering teams. Reporting to the CIO, this role will provide strategic and operational leadership across CRM platform development, software engineering, application architecture, technical delivery, and engineering team development. The ideal candidate is a strong technology leader with experience leading both Salesforce and custom software development teams, and with the maturity, communication skills, and executive presence to serve as a key partner to the CIO and senior leadership team. This position is on-site in our Charlotte, NC headquarters.

Key Responsibilities

Technology Leadership

  • Partner with the CIO and senior leadership team to define and execute the enterprise applications and software engineering strategy in support of CPI's business, operational, and growth objectives.
  • Serve as a senior technology leader and trusted advisor across application development, platform strategy, technical architecture, engineering delivery, and technology investment planning.
  • Lead the Salesforce engineering function, including CRM platform development, configuration, customization, integrations, release management, environment strategy, and platform governance.
  • Lead custom software engineering teams responsible for web applications, internal tools, integrations, APIs, and other software solutions.
  • Lead the responsible adoption and governance of AI enabled development tools and practices, including code generation, developer productivity tools, workflow automation, and emerging platform capabilities, while ensuring appropriate standards for quality, security, maintainability, and human oversight.
  • Establish and govern priorities across Salesforce, enterprise applications, custom software, integrations, modernization efforts, and technical debt reduction, balancing business value, risk, capacity, and long-term scalability.
  • Oversee application architecture, technical standards, platform health, release practices, environment strategy, vendor/platform decisions, and modernization efforts.
  • Establish and continuously improve engineering standards, code quality practices, SDLC processes, documentation, DevOps practices, CI/CD, release discipline, and platform governance.
  • Ensure application and platform solutions are reliable, scalable, secure, maintainable, user-centered, and aligned with business needs.
  • Create a culture of technical excellence, accountability, collaboration, practical delivery, and continuous improvement.

People Leadership and Team Development

  • Lead, coach, and develop managers, team leads, architects, developers, administrators, and engineers across Salesforce, enterprise applications, and software engineering.
  • Build leadership capacity within the organization by identifying, mentoring, and developing emerging leaders.
  • Establish clear expectations, performance goals, career development plans, and accountability structures.
  • Support workforce planning, recruiting, onboarding, retention, succession planning, and team structure design.
  • Promote a team environment grounded in ownership, transparency, collaboration, quality, and continuous learning.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications

  • 10+ years of progressive experience in application development, software engineering, CRM/platform development, enterprise applications, or technology leadership.
  • 5+ years of experience leading technical teams, including managers, leads, developers, engineers, administrators, or architects.
  • Demonstrated experience leading both Salesforce/CRM platform teams and custom software development teams.
  • Strong understanding of Salesforce architecture and modern software engineering practices, including application architecture, APIs, integrations, SDLC, DevOps, CI/CD, release management, security models, code quality, testing, and production support.
  • Experience with enterprise application and technology ecosystems such as Salesforce, NetSuite, AWS, Gearset, Mastermind or similar industry platforms, APIs, middleware, cloud platforms, data integrations, and related business systems.
  • Experience partnering with Product, QA, Scrum, Service Delivery, Cybersecurity, Data, IT Operations, and business stakeholders.
  • Proven ability to lead through ambiguity, manage competing priorities, and drive execution across multiple teams and initiatives.
  • Strong people leadership skills with a track record of developing technical talent and emerging leaders.
  • Excellent communication, collaboration, decision-making, and executive presence.
  • Ability to operate as a strategic partner to the CIO while engaging deeply enough with teams to understand technical and delivery realities.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in a senior director, director, VP, or head-of-engineering role.
  • Experience leading application modernization, platform consolidation, CRM transformation, enterprise integration, or technical debt reduction initiatives.
  • Experience in organizations with agile delivery models.
  • Prior experience in professional services, customer support, operational service delivery, or technology-enabled service organizations.
