Embark on a transformative journey as a VP Developer Engineer within Markets Sales Technology, where you'll play a key role in building and evolving client-facing and sales enablement platforms that support the firm's global Markets business.This role is accountable for delivering scalable, resilient, and high-quality software solutions that improve client engagement, enhance sales productivity, and enable data-driven decision making. Working closely with Product Owners, Architecture, Data Engineering, Infrastructure, and Business stakeholders, you will contribute to the strategic evolution of Sales Technology platforms while championing modern engineering practices, automation, and continuous improvement.You will be responsible for developing and maintaining business-critical applications, driving engineering excellence, and ensuring solutions meet Barclays' standards for security, resilience, performance, and operational stability.
To be successful as a VP - Developer Engineer ,you should have experience with:
Building and supporting enterprise-scale applications using modern software engineering practices and design patterns.
Developing microservices, APIs, and event-driven solutions within complex distributed environments.
Delivering solutions using Agile methodologies and contributing throughout the software development lifecycle.
Designing and implementing cloud-native solutions leveraging AWS and associated platform services.
Developing CI/CD pipelines and automating build, testing, deployment, and operational processes.
Applying software engineering best practices including code quality controls, automated testing, observability, and technical debt management.
Integrating applications with enterprise data platforms and downstream business systems.
Collaborating with Product Owners and stakeholders to translate business requirements into scalable technical solutions.
Some other highly valued skills may include:
Experience supporting Sales, CRM, Client Analytics, Research, or Commercial Banking technology platforms.
Strong knowledge of Java, Python, Spring Boot, REST APIs, and modern software development frameworks.
Experience with cloud engineering, DevOps, containerisation, and Infrastructure as Code practices.
Knowledge of AI-assisted software development, GenAI tooling, or intelligent automation capabilities.
Understanding of software performance engineering, platform resilience, and operational support models.
Experience working within Financial Services or other regulated environments.
Strong communication and stakeholder management skills with the ability to influence technical decisions across teams.
