Purpose of the role
To support the organisation, achieve its strategic objectives by the identification of business requirements and solutions that address business problems and opportunities.
Accountabilities
- Identification and analysis of business problems and client requirements that require change within the organisation.
- Development of business requirements that will address business problems and opportunities.
- Collaboration with stakeholders to ensure that proposed solutions meet their needs and expectations.
- Support the creation of business cases that justify investment in proposed solutions.
- Conduct feasibility studies to determine the viability of proposed solutions.
- Support the creation of reports on project progress to ensure proposed solutions are delivered on time and within budget.
- Creation of operational design and process design to ensure that proposed solutions are delivered within the agreed scope.
- Support to change management activities, including development of a traceability matrix to ensure proposed solutions are successfully implemented and embedded in the organisation.

Join us as a Liquid Financing – Stock Borrow Loan Business Analyst/Project Manager where you will help drive and deliver the next generation of our global Stock Borrow & Lending (SBL) and Secured Finance technology platform. Magics is the strategic front‑to‑back platform supporting Liquid Finance, SBL, and Equity Repo workflows across APAC, EMEA, and AMER—spanning trade capture, lifecycle management, inventory management, settlements. Based in Hong Kong, this role is responsible for overseeing the business analysis function for APAC Prime SBL technology, covering all projects in the space including Growth, MRC (Mandatory, Reg & Control) and KTLO (Keep The Lights On). The role will be the key SME (Subject Matter Expert) within Technology for Prime SBL platforms, interfacing with Trading desks, Market Risk, Compliance, Middle Office, and front to back Technology teams.
This is a hands‑on BAPM role for someone who thrives in front‑office – fast paced environments and brings deep SBL knowledge combined with strong technical background.
Key responsibilities:
- Driving the APAC Liquid Financing SBL book of work in collaboration with regional stakeholders
- Partnering with Tech leads to drive application story backlogs/sprint planning and provide robust framework to ensure Dev/QA are positioned to complete delivery of their book of work
- Adapt standardised and structured approach to project delivery across projects
- Process improvements ensuring consistent business analysis task structure in place across project deliveries.
- Being responsible for assessment of any new cross team/FTB requirement requests on SBL projects
- Ensuring trading front to back workflows are documented in detail and kept up to date as new flows are rolled out/decommissioned.
- Understand strategic target architecture for the trading platform and collaborate with Tech Leads to ensure projects are moving in a strategic direction
- Partnering with senior stakeholders across Front Office, Middle Office/Operations/Risk, Compliance and Technology teams
- Maintaining long-term vision, even amidst short term deliverables
- Ensuring compliance with internal and external controls/regulatory policies including Global Electronic Trading (GET) policy
- Manage relationships with upstream/downstream systems, vendor gateways, and internal control functions.
Essential Skills/Basic Qualifications:
- Experience in full‑Stack Engineering - Backend: Java, Spring Boot, REST microservices ,Frontend: Angular, HTML/CSS/TypeScript,
- Experience in Database: SQL (Oracle/MS SQL) and advanced query optimization ,Cloud‑native delivery: OpenShift, containers, Linux and Git
- Strong understanding of OO design principles and ability to refactor complex systems with experience working in Agile/Scrum with test‑driven development.
- Deep SBL / Equity Finance experience, including borrowing/lending workflows, recalls, returns, marks, collateral, booking flows, lifecycle events, and vendor gateway interactions.
- Working knowledge of broader Capital Markets and Front Office trading processes.
- Ability to operate in high‑pressure environments with traders and senior stakeholders.
- Bachelor’s degree in MIS, Computer Science, Engineering or Finance or equivalent
- Deep SBL / Equity Finance experience, including borrowing/lending workflows, recalls, returns, marks, collateral, booking flows, lifecycle events, and vendor gateway interactions.
- Working knowledge of broader Capital Markets and Front Office trading processes.
- Ability to write high quality Business Requirement Documents and Functional Specs that are clear and concise enough for, front office traders, functional stakeholders and developers to follow
- Strong analytical & problem‑solving skills; ability to quickly diagnose production issues to drive tactical + strategic resolutions.
- Ability to build strong relationships with the Front Office, Operations, Risk Functions, Compliance and Technology
- In depth knowledge of front to back Equity trading flows and processes
- Must be able to communicate effectively with other project team members, including Technology, business, and Compliance teams at all levels, gauging the level of technical knowledge of the audience in these communications
Desirable skills/Preferred Qualifications:
- Technical background desirable
- Knowledge of Prime Financing ecosystem.
- Exposure to workflow automation, inventory optimization, or funding optimization models.
