The Investment Sales team is recognized nationwide for its expertise, providing asset-specific customization that yields highly effective transaction strategies. Investment Sales advisors work closely with the Debt & Structured Finance team on loan origination, underwriting, closing, life-of-loan servicing and asset management. This experienced team provides clients with innovative and comprehensive solutions by accessing a full suite of debt products, including Fannie Mae, Freddie Mac, FHA, Bridge, Life Company, Bank and CMBS products.

Proactively manage the team’s loan pipeline and work with Origination, Underwriting and Credit to facilitate the structuring and documentation of creative and efficient loan executions for our customers. The primary job function is to manage the day-to-day activities of the prescreen team and provide balance, guidance, support, and direction to the team throughout the prescreening process.

The Prescreen Manager must ensure the team generates accurate, complete, well-presented, and timely work product to achieve the Customer’s objectives while ensuring that the NKF credit team has the analysis necessary to make sound lending decisions. The Prescreen Manager is responsible for the quality and accuracy of the work performed by the Team, as well as efficiency and coordination of the Team’s activities. The Prescreen Manager will also facilitate timely and appropriate communication between all parties involved (NKF, vendors, customers and Investors) as dictated by the characteristics of each transaction.
The quality, completeness and accuracy of the team’s work product are of utmost importance to ensure that NKF makes sound lending decisions. The timely delivery of work product, coupled with efficient operations and effective communication, are key factors in providing excellent customer service.


General Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for efficient operation of the team – including timely completion of work, quality and accuracy of work, and proactive management of loans in screening,
  • Responsible for effective communication within the Team and between the Team, Origination and Credit
  • Function as a problem solver and troubleshooter during the prescreen process
  • Function as an “issue identifier” throughout the process, ensuring that there are no last minute surprises that could have been noted earlier in the process
  • Assign tasks and specific work assignments to Team Members
  • Act as a coach - ensure appropriate distribution of work among the team members and Interact with team members daily in prioritization of day-to-day activities
  • Provide guidance and training to team members
  • Responsible for thorough knowledge of NKF and Investor Underwriting and Pricing Guidelines and staying current on developments in credit pricing and investor programs
  • Ensure that the team meets all agreed upon deadlines
  • Know the status and understand the deal issues and appropriately update Origination and Credit

Day-to-Day Responsibilities:

  • Review loan calculations and quote summaries with Origination and Prescreen Teams
  • Ensure accurate and timely prescreen loan packages are submitted to credit for approval
  • Ensure accurate and timely quote submissions to Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac; respond to questions and monitor receipt of quotes
  • Pipeline Management Reporting
  • Review Application and work with Origination to deliver to Customer, respond to questions and monitor execution.
  • Facilitate appropriate handoff from prescreen to underwriting and appropriate communication between underwriting and origination
  • Assist Credit on projects as assigned
  • Management of the team including the completion of performance reviews, goal setting, monitoring of vacation/sick days
  • Attend weekly pipeline meetings and ensure pipeline reports are updated by team members
  • Maintain accurate loan data in Closer on a weekly basis
  • Ensure accurate and timely engagement of third party reports. Ensure that the appropriate scope of work (specific product requirements) has been communicated to these vendors


Skills, Education and Experience:

  • 3-5+ years commercial underwriting experience -- GSE multifamily experience is preferred
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, Real Estate, or other related fields
  • Capable of managing a team
  • Proven team leadership skills and abilities
  • Highly developed analytical, research and written/oral presentation skills
  • Ability to problem-solve and exercise independent judgment while displaying a high degree of initiative and accuracy
  • Demonstrated ability to organize & prioritize projects; complete multiple tasks on schedule
  • Ability to work productively under minimal supervision
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially in EXCEL and Word
  • Strong work ethic
  • Proactive team player, able to work effectively under sometimes stressful conditions
  • Able to travel 25-50 days per year
