QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s Degree in guidance and counseling, psychology, vocational rehabilitation or related field; or 2 years of relevant experience.
  • Proficient in Microsoft software computer programs, including Word, Excel, e-mail, and the Internet.
  • Strong interpersonal, telephone, and communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Organizational and file management skills.
  • Ability to work in a team setting with other professionals.
  • Ability to maintain a self-motivated and self-directed schedule, address multiple projects promptly, and take projects from beginning through completion.
  • Ability to work with people of diverse backgrounds and circumstances.
  • Must possess a valid Nevada driver’s license and pass a motor vehicle record check.
  • Must be able to successfully pass a criminal background check.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Become familiar with the academic components of vocational education.
  • Screen applicants for program admissions based on established criteria.
  • Complete a job readiness evaluation of each vocational client.
  • Prepare an Individual Service Plan for each client.
  • Conduct weekly case management on each client and prepare written case notes for client files.
  • Present program services to the public and recruit clients for the Vocational Job Readiness program and coordinate all efforts to get clients enrolled with community partners.
  • Perform problem resolution with clients and touch base weekly with clients who are working.
  • Send monthly performance evaluations to each department for clients performing on-the-job training.
  • Make classroom presentations of program materials as needed.
  • Attend all vocational staff meetings.
  • Knowledge of local Community Resources and prepare referrals for clients needing additional supportive services for eyewear, clothing, drug court, mandated court appearances, and NA/AA meetings.
  • Prepare a discharge summary for all clients exiting the program.
  • Any other duties as assigned by the supervisor.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to walk, stand, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl and reach with hands and arms on a continuous basis. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 20 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, depth perception and ability to focus. The employee must have the ability to operate a telephone, desktop or laptop computer, as well as the ability to access and produce information from a computer, and to understand written information.
