Job Description

Join Manulife’s Canadian Disability and Group Life team as a Vocational Rehabilitation Specialist In this role, you will be responsible for helping our Plan Members return to alternate occupations at their own employer or to identify and prepare for appropriate alternate occupations with other employers. Individually designed return to work strategies will be determined by providing or referring for services, as necessary, regarding the identified need of the Plan Member such as vocational assessments and training, career planning and development, job development and job search techniques and community resources.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Conduct vocational assessments and transferable skills analyses.
  • Develop, monitor and implement innovative and goal-oriented vocational rehabilitation strategies for plan members.
  • Develop positive relationships through frequent communication and collaboration with plan sponsors, plan members, treatment providers and internal partners (i.e. case managers) to develop creative return to work solutions.
  • Vendor and budget management to ensure the most effective and efficient programs are available to our Plan Members
  • Action daily administrative tasks which include responding to emails and telephone calls in a timely manner.

Qualifications:

  • A post-secondary diploma, CEGEP (DEC or DEP) or bachelor’s degree in a healthcare program. Preference will be given to those candidates with Health Sciences related education and direct experience in a rehabilitation setting.
  • Accredited Rehabilitation Professional (RRP) and/or Canadian Certified Rehabilitation Counselor (CCRC) eligibility, completion or enrolment in related Vocational Rehabilitation courses and/or experience as a vocational counselor would be an asset
  • Direct experience using vocational assessment tools and techniques to assess job skills, create vocational goals and plans and to resolve factors impacting the return to work
  • Excellent knowledge of Federal and Provincial employment programs, public and private vocational retraining facilities and employment placement processes.
  • Knowledge and understanding of local and regional labor market conditions and trends
  • Budget management and basic math skills to determine costs and understand the financial implications of the recommended work transition plan
  • Sound knowledge of Rehabilitation Industry Standards, Disability Insurance, medical terminology, and Disability and Rehabilitation management best practices as well as an understanding of job descriptions and job demands in relation to functional abilities
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills, with attention to detail and accuracy.

Responsabilités du poste :

  • Effectuer des évaluations professionnelles et des analyses des compétences transférables.
  • Élaborer, suivre et mettre en œuvre des stratégies de réadaptation professionnelle novatrices et axées sur les objectifs pour les participants.
  • Établir des relations positives grâce à une communication et une collaboration fréquentes avec les promoteurs de régime, les participants, les fournisseurs de soins et les partenaires internes (p. ex. gestionnaires de dossiers) afin de développer des solutions créatives pour le retour au travail.
  • Gérer les fournisseurs et le budget afin de garantir que les programmes les plus efficaces et efficients soient offerts aux participants.
  • Effectuer les tâches administratives quotidiennes, notamment répondre aux courriels et aux appels téléphoniques en temps opportun.

Qualifications :

  • Diplôme d’études postsecondaires, CÉGEP (DEC ou DEP) ou baccalauréat dans un programme de soins de santé. Une préférence sera accordée aux candidats ayant une formation en sciences de la santé et une expérience directe en milieu de réadaptation.
  • Admissibilité, obtention ou inscription à la certification de Professionnel agréé en réadaptation (PAR) et/ou Conseiller canadien certifié en réadaptation (CCRC), ainsi que la réalisation de cours en réadaptation professionnelle et/ou une expérience comme conseiller en réadaptation professionnelle seraient des atouts.
  • Expérience directe dans l’utilisation d’outils et de techniques d’évaluation professionnelle pour évaluer les compétences professionnelles, créer des objectifs et des plans de réadaptation professionnelle et résoudre les facteurs influençant le retour au travail.
  • Excellente connaissance des programmes d’emploi fédéraux et provinciaux, des établissements publics et privés de recyclage professionnel et des processus de placement en emploi.
  • Connaissance et compréhension des conditions et tendances du marché du travail local et régional.
  • Compétences en gestion budgétaire et en mathématiques de base pour déterminer les coûts et comprendre les implications financières du plan de transition professionnelle recommandé.
  • Connaissance approfondie des normes de l’industrie de la réadaptation, de l’assurance invalidité, de la terminologie médicale et des pratiques exemplaires en gestion de l’invalidité et de la réadaptation, ainsi qu’une compréhension des descriptions de poste et des exigences professionnelles en lien avec les capacités fonctionnelles.
  • Excellentes compétences en communication écrite et orale, avec un souci du détail et de la précision.

Salary range is expected to be between

$55 125,00 CAD - $91 875,00 CAD

Employees also have the opportunity to participate in incentive programs and earn incentive compensation tied to business and individual performance.
