Vocational Pathways Officer
Support carers to build confidence, achievegoalsand reconnect with employment,studyor volunteering opportunities.

As part of the Carer Gateway program, youwillplayan important rolebe supportingcarers across Queensland, SouthwestSydneyand the Nepean Blue Mountains to explore meaningful pathways into employment, education,volunteeringand training.
This rewarding role combines career coaching, communityengagementand stakeholder collaboration to create positive, lasting outcomes for carers and the organisations that support them.
About the role
As a Vocational Pathways Officer, you will work closely with carers toidentifygoals, overcomebarriersand create tailored vocational plans that support long-term success. Youwillprovide one-on-one coaching,facilitatereferrals toadditionalsupportservicesand build relationships with host organisations to encourage inclusive and supportive workplaces for carers.
You’llalso promote the program through community engagement activities and provide ongoing post-placement support to both carers and host organisations to help placements succeed.
Key responsibilities
Develop tailored vocational plans aligned with carers’ goals and aspirations
Provide career coaching,guidanceand practical support to carers
Connect carers and families withappropriate internaland external support services
Build relationships with employers, volunteerorganisationsand training providers
Support organisations to become more carer-inclusive workplaces
Conduct regular post-placement check-ins with carers and host organisations
Promote Carer Gateway services through community engagement and events
Maintainaccuratedocumentation and reporting within client management systems
To be successful in this role, you will need:

Wellways Australia is a leading national mental health and disability support organisation with services in Queensland, ACT, NSW, Victoria and Tasmania.
We work with a diverse range of people, their families and carers to identify needs and goals to build good lives in the community This includes creating a home, getting a job and building meaningful relationships.
We also deliver services to people with multiple, complex needs and often do this in partnership with clinical services, health support agencies and government.
Our services are informed by current evidence on mental health, rehabilitation and community inclusion, together with an understanding of people’s lived experience – what works for them.
We are a registered NDIS service provider. Our knowledgeable staff have the right community connections. We offer: support co-ordination, group based activities, assistance to access community, skills development, assistance with household tasks and personal care, housing and tenancy, help with budgeting and travel training.
Many of our staff draw from their own experience of mental health issues to provide peer support in services, education courses, advocacy workshops and our advice and referral Helpline.
