What the Vocational Assistant does:
The Vocational Assistant supports instruction within the building trades program, working closely with the Vocational Instructor and campus team to provide hands-on learning experiences for high school students.
The Vocational Assistant assists in any of the following:
- Assists the vocational instructor with delivering instruction in building trades and hands-on project work
- Supervises high school students during classroom and project-based activities to ensure safety and engagement
- Supports students in developing vocational, functional, and workplace readiness skills
- Assists with classroom organization, setup, and daily instructional support as needed
- Collaborates with teachers, assistant teachers, and related staff to support student learning and behavior
- Helps facilitate student participation in jobsite and campus-based vocational activities
- Maintains communication with staff and community contacts as appropriate
- Assists with general program operations and building-related activities
- Attends meetings, trainings, and professional development as requested
- Performs other duties as assigned
What the Vocational Assistant brings to the team:
- Bachelor’s Degree preferred
- Experience working with students/children, preferably in a school or special education setting
- Interest or experience in construction, building trades, or vocational training preferred
- Ability to supervise and engage high school students in structured, hands-on environments
- Strong teamwork and communication skills
- Willingness to support a collaborative, student-centered program
