Organizational Context and Scope
Under the overall supervision of the Head of the Protection Unit and the direct supervision of the Data Analysis Officer, the Data Scientist Programme Support Officer will be responsible for supporting the development and roll-out of the first international standards and guidance on human trafficking administrative data, as well as the supporting production of new evidence based of such data.
Contribute to the development of the first international standards and guidance on the definition, collection, management, and safe use of human trafficking data.
Support the consultative process of data standard development with central government agencies and National Governmetn Organizations (NGOs), in coordination with IOM and UNODC offices throughout (including bilateral consultations and workshops).
Support the development and publication of a training curriculum for governments, based on the new data standards, including through publishing content on CTDC and other platforms. Ensure complementarity with, and contribution to, other IOM capacity building programmes, including the Essentials of Migration Management and data capacity building programmes led by IOM’s Global Migration Data Analysis Centre (GMDAC).
Assist in organizing and facilitating trainings to government stakeholders as well as whole-of-society trainings using aforementioned curriculum as well as materials developed by the rest of the team.
Support the development and expansion of the CTDC through the integration of new datasets, with a focus on organizations and countries targeted for trainings and capacity building. Contribute to the development of new content and features on priority topics and countries.
Support the production of new knowledge products on priority policy topics with select research partners and other stakeholders.
Contribute to the production of research products and tools and coordinate research cooperation with other partners.
Undertake duty travel, as necessary.
Perform such other duties as may be assigned.
Education
Master’s degree in Migration Studies, Economics, International Relations, Law, Development Studies, International Affairs, Political Science or a related field from an accredited academic institution with two years of relevant professional experience; or,
Bachelor’s degree in the above fields with four years of relevant professional experience.
Accredited Universities are those listed in the UNESCO World Higher Education Database.
Experience
Skills
Demonstrated research background with knowledge/experience of quantitative and qualitative analysis;
Demonstrated drafting and reporting skills, including preparation of technical and analytical documents;
Ability to work effectively in a team and with diverse stakeholders, including government and partner organizations; and,
Excellent knowledge of Excel, PowerPoint and Word; knowledge of statistical analysis software such as SPSS, R or STATA.
Languages
All IOM staff members in all categories are required to be fluent in one of the IOM's official languages (English, French, Spanish).
For this position, fluency in English is required (oral and written).
Working knowledge of French or Spanish is an advantage.
Proficiency of language(s) required will be specifically evaluated during the selection process, which may include
