Location: Stockport

Shift Pattern: 4 on 4 off permanent nights: 19:00 - 07:00

Salary: £51,743.74 per annum / £23.69 per hour

Are you a skilled Heavy Goods Vehicle Mechanic who takes pride in keeping vehicles safe, compliant, and performing at their best?

We’re looking for dedicated and proactive VMU Technician to join our high-performing Vehicle Maintenance Unit (VMU).

You’ll play a crucial role behind the scenes—ensuring our fleet is fully operational and ready to keep our logistics network moving.

What You'll Be Doing

  • Carry out inspection, servicing, and repairs on LGVs, trailers, and ancillary equipment
  • Ensure all work meets or exceeds VOSA standards and compliance requirements
  • Work closely with VMU Shift Leaders and logistics teams to maximise vehicle availability
  • Deliver high-quality work efficiently to achieve shift KPIs
  • Follow strict health, safety, and environmental procedures
  • Diagnose faults and carry out repairs using appropriate tools and resources
  • Support the use of subcontractors to ensure timely and cost-effective maintenance
  • Contribute to a culture of continuous improvement and operational excellence
  • Provide flexible support across VMU duties when required

What We're Looking For

Essential:

City & Guilds in LGV Vehicle Maintenance (or equivalent)
LGV Licence Category C+E
Strong communication and interpersonal skills
A proactive, customer-focused approach
Commitment to safety, compliance, and quality workmanship

Desirable:

Experience in a fleet maintenance or transport environment
Strong planning and organisational skills
