Job Description

Overall Mission

The Visual Merchandising Manager guarantees the image of the Maison in all Australian stores, ensuring that VM is appealing, inspiring, and aligned with brand guidelines. This role supports sales development and contributes to the commercial success of the Subsidiary.

Main activities

Visual Merchandising Strategy

  • Define and implement the VM calendar for Australia, including monthly coordination, product rotations, and collection launches.
  • Ensure VM guidelines are correctly applied in all stores and maintain a consistent brand image.
  • Collaborate with Retail Merchandising and Store Management to align VM with business strategy and maximize sales.
  • Share best practices across the network and adapt VM to local market needs.

Team Leadership & Community

  • Lead and develop a team of in-store Visual Merchandisers and animate the VM ambassador community.
  • Organise team planning and training sessions, including VM induction for new hires.
  • Foster a strong VM culture and act as the main point of contact for the central VM team in Paris.

Store Animations & Windows

  • Plan and execute VM animations and window displays in collaboration with Communication and Retail Merchandising teams.
  • Oversee installation and dismantling of animations and ensure timely product launches.
  • Manage VM props (PLV) inventory and ordering for new openings and existing location

Window Displays Related Activities

  • Collaborate with Communications on seasonal window displays installation
  • Implement the VM directives in line with the Maison's image standards and in relation to the business needs
  • Communicate between Hermès Australia Communications team, creators and Hermès International regarding concept development
  • Monitor the products in stock and plan its assortments to convey the window displays concept best
  • Closely communicate with creators of window displays and monitor the production in the process to attain the best quality to fit the Maison’s products
  • Schedule the installing dates according to the annual schedule satisfying both creators and stores
  • Manage all administrative tasks related to window display setup, including preparing and submitting required documentation, maintaining timelines, and ensuring accurate records of installations, production details, and related communications.
  • Coordinate the collection and uploading of installation photos to provide full visibility to Hermès International, while ensuring administrative processes run smoothly to support consistent execution across stores and alignment with global teams.
  • Conduct research on current VM trends and market developments to enhance the aesthetics of displays.

Communication Events Related Activities

  • Actively participate and co-operate the implementation of special brand events initiated by Communication team, including Exhibition Openings, Press Presentations, VIC/Public Events and more (as indicated in the calendar).

Store Openings & Projects

  • Provide VM expertise during store openings and renovations. Plan zoning and product space for new projects and coordinate VM strategy for openings. Participate in buying campaigns to influence assortment and VM strategy.
  • Provide feedback and work with real estate project manager for minor works

In store support

  • Manage in-store artwork, and provide art work training to store teams
  • Regular store visits
  • Mange in-store floral arrangements and budget
  • Private room and powder room presentation

Budget Management

  • Manage VM materials
  • PLV budget management

CandidateProfile

  • Tertiary qualifications in Art, Design, Fashion, or Visual Merchandising.
  • Strong aesthetic sensibility and creative vision.
  • Proven experience (8+ years) in multi-store VM roles with complex assortments.
  • Excellent leadership and team management skills.
  • Analytical mindset with commercial creativity.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Flexibility to travel across Australia.
  • Proficiency in IT tools.
  • Able to work collaboratively and influence cross-functional teams
  • Strong commercial acumen and understanding of luxury consumer behaviour
