Job Description

Job Purpose:

The Visual Merchandising Assistant Manager plays a key supporting role in maintaining and elevating CHANEL’s Fragrance & Beauty image across all points of sale. This position assists in executing VM strategies, coordinating boutique openings and renovations, ensuring high‑quality visual executions, and supporting campaign implementation in alignment with CHANEL’s luxury standards.

The role requires strong coordination, aesthetic sensitivity, and agility to bring the CHANEL Difference to life at POS, while partnering closely with Marketing, Retail, Store Planning and Regional VM teams.

Key Responsibilities:

VISUAL MERCHANDISING EXECUTION & POS EXCELLENCE

  • Lead the day‑to‑day execution of VM guidelines across boutiques and counters.
  • Supervise installation of VM elements during campaigns, refreshes and animations.
  • Provide hands‑on instructions for display maintenance, SPM lifecycle, and POS standards.
  • Conduct regular store visits and maintain an updated VM quality checklist.
  • Consolidate photo reports, campaign feedback, and POS observations

Visual Image and Design Coordination

  • Support assessment of visual image needs for boutiques/counters and consolidate feedback for Regional VM teams.
  • Assist in implementing regional design guidelines and ensure accuracy during installation.
  • Coordinate with vendors and contractors to ensure execution meets CHANEL quality standards.
  • Support vendor evaluation focusing on quality, cost, delivery and CSR compliance.

Boutique new opening/ Renovation / Retrofit Coordination

  • Support project timelines and documentation required for new store openings or renovations.
  • Assist in preparing RFPs, RFIs, layout reviews, and key project documents.
  • Participate in site visits, assist with punch lists, and track construction progress.
  • Liaise with landlords, contractors and vendors under guidance of line manager /Regional VM & Store planning
  • Ensure VM elements are correctly prepared, produced and delivered for opening packages.

Project Management & CrossFunctional Collaboration

  • Manage workflows, timelines and key milestones for VM projects. Coordinate inputs among internal teams (Marketing, Retail, SPVM, Warehouse, Finance, IT) to ensure smooth execution.
  • Support key pop-ups, podiums and large‑scale installations
  • Provide administrative support including purchase orders, documentation, timeline updates and reporting.
  • Collaborate with Marketing & Retail on campaign rollouts and animations. Implement outposts, window displays and in-boutique activations following approved guidelines.
  • Coordinate logistics for materials, production, and installation.
  • Provide suggestions to Regional VM when guidelines require local adaptation.

Budget Management

  • Assist in budgeting for VM installations, projects and maintenance.
  • Track expenditures, monitor production costs and ensure spending adheres to quality and business standards.
  • Forecast quantities for SPMs and support end‑to‑end material management including order processing, delivery and lifecycle tracking.

TRAINING AND COMMUNICATION

  • Facilitate VM training for Retail teams, ensuring mastery of CHANEL’s VM standards.
  • Act as a daily communication bridge between local teams, business lead and Regional VM & Store Planning.
  • Ensure VM updates, guidelines and instructions are cascaded accurately and timely.

Person Specifications:

Academic / Professional Qualifications

  • Degree or Diploma in Graphic Design, Visual Merchandising, Interior Design or equivalent
  • Proficiency in design software such as Illustrator, Photoshop, SketchUp/3D tools, and MS Office (Excel required)
  • Knowledge of MAC platforms is an advantage

Work Experience

  • Min 3-5 years of hands on visual merchandising experience, preferably in the Beauty/Fashion industry with supervisory experience
  • Experience leading small-scale projects or supervising others is desirable
  • Exposure to boutique installation or renovation processes is a plus
