Job Description

Some of what you will do:

The Visual Merchandiser will be responsible for creating engaging, customer-focused product displays that curate meaningful stories and inspire discoveries throughout Staples stores. This role brings assortments to life through thoughtful presentation and thematic storytelling, helping customers connect with products and solutions in a way that enhances their overall shopping experience. The position collaborates closely with store teams, marketing, operations, and suppliers to design and maintain cohesive, impactful visual experiences across all locations.

Specifically, You Will:

  • Design and execute in-store displays, end caps and seasonal presentations that bring assortments to life and create a cohesive, engaging customer experience.
  • Curate displays that connect related products and tell meaningful stories, helping customers easily discover solutions that meet their needs.
  • Collaborate with marketing and merchandising teams to develop visual themes that support key campaigns, seasonal moments, and business initiatives.
  • Develop planograms and layouts that not only optimize product visibility but also guide customers naturally through the shopping journey.
  • Refresh and evolve displays regularly to reflect emerging trends, new assortments, and shifting customer priorities.
  • Coach and support store teams in maintaining visual presentation standards and ensuring displays are executed as intended.
  • Leverage sales data and customer insights to evaluate the impact of visual storytelling and identify opportunities for improvement.

Some of what you need:

  • Visual merchandising courses or diploma.
  • Strong visual eye with the ability to translate strategy and assortment into inspiring, solution-oriented displays.
  • Solid understanding of store layouts, space planning, and how visual flow impacts the customer journey.
  • Hands-on approach and willingness to support in-store execution.
  • Software skills an asset: design tools (ie. Adobe Creative Suite / InDesign / Illustrator), Microsoft Office.
  • 3–5 years of experience in visual merchandising, retail presentation, or a related field focused on product storytelling and customer experience.

Physical demands/working conditions:

  • Office environment – Hybrid, with 4 days onsite in Richmond Hill, subject to the hybrid policy.
