The Visual Identity Manager, reporting to and partnering with the Director of Design, defines and oversees assigned brand(s) design-related initiatives to support overall visual standards and brand identity. The Visual Identity Manager leads and mentors designers as the team grows, ensuring visual identity standards are maintained in all assigned brands projects.

Responsibilities

• Own brand identity and responsible for consistent application for assigned brands; develop and maintain guidelines, documents, and assets to support the visual identity
• Set creative direction for beauty packaging design graphics, website design, logos, branding, infographics, email campaigns, landing pages, ads, in-store POS, digital, social media, editorial content, photography, typography, copywriting, and artistic styling direction
• Oversee all design projects for assigned brands from conception to delivery, reviewing work of designers to ensure high quality output and deadlines are met
• Accountable for team’s usage of the principles of good design to layout and format of all marketing and promotional materials, brochures, flyers, sell sheets, and banners
• Partners with Brand and Creative teams to produce compelling visual campaigns, ensuring understanding and compliance with brand visual identity
• Lead, manage, motivate and recruit Graphic Designers to build an exceptional Creative talent bench. Prioritize and assign workload appropriately to meet deadlines on ongoing projects
• Lead quality assurance reviews on creative projects, setting the standard for brand output
• Source and work with new vendors to execute designs and projects as needed
• Stay up to date with industry, production and graphic design trends in relation to brands, suggests new ways of improving quality of designs
• Review and implement innovations in the design workflow that supports reduction in cost, rework and time to create assets
• Translate concepts effectively against objectives and deliver on schedule
• Own prioritization and timelines across assigned brand projects

Qualifications

• Bachelors in Design, Visual Arts or relevant field
• 5+ years of graphic design experience, including at least 2 years in a senior or lead role, with a proven track record of leading brand identity and visual systems from concept to delivery (agency or in-house experience preferred)
• Expert proficiency in Adobe Creative Cloud (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign)
• Knowledge of, experience in, and passion for graphic design, digital content, social media, and experiential activation
• Solid interpersonal skills with a collaborative relationship building style to work well with cross-functional partners
• A portfolio demonstrating end-to-end brand identity work and the strategic thinking behind your design decisions
• Excellent typography and composition skills
• Proven ability to set creative direction and make independent design decisions with minimal oversight
• Outstanding verbal and visual communication skills, including the ability to articulate and justify your design decisions to senior stakeholders
• Self-confident and resilient to the constructive criticism and feedback regarding design work
• Demonstrate relentlessly high standards while fostering passion, integrity and energy
• Detail-oriented and highly organized
• A self-starter who understands the brand vision able to anticipate needs, problems, opportunities
• A background in print design/editorial layout or motion design is an asset

Salary range: $85,000 - $95,000 (Stayner, Ontario*) per year

The actual compensation offered will be based on factors such as the candidate’s experience, skills, qualifications, geographic location, applicable market data, internal equity, and business needs, and may vary within the stated range. This role may be eligible for bonus, incentive compensation, or other variable pay in accordance with applicable company plans.
