Visual Communications Specialist

Tri-County Electric Cooperative (TCEC)

POSITION PURPOSE

The Visual Communications Specialist brings TCEC's stories to life through compelling video and design. This role owns the full production cycle, across long-form and short-form formats, including the annual meeting, program spotlights, member stories, and safety features. The position also assists with graphic design for Cooperative communications, ensuring every visual touchpoint reflects TCEC's brand and mission. This is an individual contributor role working in close partnership with the Communications & Engagement team reinforcing a culture rooted in the Cooperative's Essential Attributes.

JOB DIMENSIONS

Internal Responsibility Partner with the Digital Communications & Engagement Coordinator on scripting, creative direction, and campaign development.
Manage internal visual content requests and maintain well-organized archives of footage, project files, and design assets.

External Responsibility Support Community Engagement Specialists with event photography and video documentation across the service territory.

PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES

Video Production - Long-Form

  • Lead all phases of the annual meeting video presentation: scripting, filming, motion graphics, and live event delivery.
  • Own pre-production through archiving for long-form projects, coordinating shoots with internal teams, board members, and external participants.
  • Ensure all long-form productions meet brand standards, visual quality benchmarks, and established timelines.

Video Production - Short-Form

  • Produce short-form content - program spotlights, member stories, employee features, and safety demonstrations - optimized for Facebook, Instagram, YouTube, and the Cooperative's website.
  • Integrate motion graphics, lower-thirds, captions, and branded elements into every production.
  • Manage a video production calendar in coordination with the communications team to keep content aligned with campaign priorities.

Graphic Design

  • Design print and digital materials including flyers, event signage, and social media graphics
  • Build and maintain a library of branded templates to support team efficiency and visual consistency
  • Create design assets for key Cooperative programs - Cooperative Giving, Round Up, CARES, and scholarships - and contribute to the annual report and other high-visibility publications

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

Education and Experience Associate's degree in film production, Digital Media, Communications, Graphic Design, or related field.

  • A portfolio of professional-quality video and graphic design work is required.
  • 3–5 years of professional video production experience spanning both long-form and short-form formats.
  • Background in nonprofit, government, or utility communications is a plus.

Operational / Functional Experience

  • Hands-on experience with camera operation, lighting, and audio capture for on-location production.

Knowledge / Skills / Abilities

  • Advanced video editing proficiency (CapCut or equivalent); skilled in motion graphics, color grading, audio mixing, and multi-format export.
  • Strong graphic design skills in Canva or similar; solid command of typography, layout, color theory, and brand application.
  • Self-directed and highly organized, with the ability to manage multiple projects, meet deadlines, and take initiative without close supervision.
