The Visitor Engagement & Office Administrator is responsible for the daily operation of the Tourism Sarnia-Lambton Visitor Centre and administrative support functions of the organization.
This position serves as the first point of contact for visitors, tourism stakeholders and the public, providing exceptional customer service, tourism information, retail sales support and office administration services. The role is focused on delivering positive visitor experiences, maintaining efficient office operations and supporting Tourism Sarnia-Lambton staff and programs.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Visitor Centre Operations
• Open and close the Visitor Centre.
• Welcome and assist visitors in person, by phone and electronically.
• Provide information regarding attractions, accommodations, restaurants, events, transportation and tourism experiences.
• Distribute visitor guides, maps, brochures and promotional materials.
• Maintain an organized and welcoming visitor centre environment.
• Track visitor statistics and inquiries.
• Maintain visitor information displays and promotional materials.
Retail & Gift Shop Operations
• Operate point-of-sale system.
• Process retail sales and transactions.
• Reconcile daily sales reports.
• Maintain souvenir and merchandise inventory.
• Assist with ordering and restocking retail items.
• Monitor retail displays and merchandising.
Office Administration
• Manage incoming calls, emails and general inquiries.
• Coordinate meeting room and facility bookings.
• Maintain office supply inventory.
• Assist with filing and records management.
• Prepare routine reports and correspondence.
• Support scheduling and administrative functions for staff and management.
• Maintain partner and contact databases.
Visitor Information Centre Management
• Manage brochure inventory and distribution.
• Coordinate tourism literature updates.
• Liaise with tourism operators regarding brochure placement.
• Ensure visitor center displays remain current and accurate.
Organizational Support
• Provide logistical support for tourism events and programs when required.
• Assist with special projects during peak tourism seasons.
• Support visitor services at major tourism events as assigned.
General:
• Incumbents must keep up to date on all Tourism Sarnia Lambton Policies and Procedures, etc. ensuring that these are implemented as prescribed.
• Incumbents must possess the physical ability to meet the duties and responsibilities of the job description and/or the requirements identified within the position's Physical Demands Analysis

Qualifications:
Education
• College Diploma in:
o Office Administration
o Business Administration
o Tourism & Hospitality
o Customer Service
o Related field
Experience
• 2–3 years customer service experience.
• Experience in reception, administration or retail operations.
• Cash handling and POS experience.
• Strong customer service skills.
• Experience working in a tourism, hospitality or visitor services environment is considered an asset.
Skills
• Exceptional customer service.
• Strong verbal communication.
• Organization and attention to detail.
• Microsoft Office proficiency.
• Ability to multitask in a public-facing environment.
• Knowledge of Sarnia-Lambton tourism assets.
• Ability to work occasional evenings and weekends.
