The Earth Commons, Georgetown’s Institute for Environment and Sustainability invites applications for a full-time non-tenure track one-year appointment Visiting Teaching Professor and Lab Manager in Environmental Science. This teaching professor role will teach and oversee integrated classroom and lab courses for Environmental Science undergraduate programming. In addition to teaching responsibilities for the Fall semester, this position will coordinate Student Academic Assistants (SAAs) for the labs and will have some organizational responsibility for equipment and supplies essential to the operations of the lab components.
Our areas of interest include, but are not limited to, earth systems and natural processes, their interactions related to biodiversity, conservation, evolution and ecology; human population; global systems; environmental health; atmospheric and climate sciences; ecosystem services, resilience, structure and function; global and/or regional environmental change and its differential human impacts; urban and built environments; food resources, production, and agriculture; energy sources, production, and pollution; water resources, quality, and pollution; solid and hazardous waste; and earth systems and natural processes including biogeochemical cycling. We seek creative candidates with an interdisciplinary background in a range of environmental specialties that have successfully employed active-learning strategies.
The successful applicant will bring an interdisciplinary perspective to teaching; will demonstrate teaching experience both in the classroom and experientially in the lab and/or field; will be able to analyze and clearly communicate complex scientific data and concepts to broad specialist and non-specialist audiences; will demonstrate a commitment to exceptional instruction.

Salary range - $70,000-84,000
