St. Mary's College of Maryland, a public college in southern Maryland, is accepting applications for the position of Visiting Teaching & Learning Librarian. This is a 12-month, full-time, non-tenure track faculty position with an annual salary of $65,000. The term of appointment is July 1-June 30. After the first year, the contract may be renewed for an additional 12-month term with approval from the Provost, contingent upon demonstrable staffing needs, funding availability, and performance. Anticipated start date is August 31, 2026.
The Library seeks an enthusiastic and creative librarian to provide research and instrucion support to students and faculty. The librarian will teach information literacy sessions in the First Year Seminars (a required course for all new St. Mary's students), and provide general research and reference assistance. As the liaison for psychology, educational studies, the natural sciences, and mathematics, the librarian provides research support and collaborates with teaching faculty to incorporate information literacy skills and concepts into departmental curriculum.
As a small, supportive, undergraduate-focused liberal arts environment, the Library is committed to providing training, professional development, and mentorship. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to explore additional professional interests in this position in the areas of collection development, web design, discovery layer management, outreach and engagement, or any other library-related topics of their choosing. This appointment will prepare the librarian for continued successful employment in academic libraries.
