Argonne National Laboratory (Argonne) supports the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) in evaluating the ecosystem services of solar energy production. Among these potential ecosystem services are potential impacts to biodiversity. This project will support Argonne’s work for DOE to better understanding the avian community responses to solar energy production. Over the past several years, Argonne has collected a variety of avian data at solar energy sites across the country. Working closely with Argonne scientists, the Visiting Student will assist in the analysis of bioacoustic and camera imagery datasets collected from solar energy facilities. The student will gain experience with R, passive acoustic monitoring analysis methods, and ecological data analysis. Activities include but are not limited to: data processing, data visualizations, temporal analysis, and statistical analyses between treatment groups.
o Currently enrolled in undergraduate or graduate studies at an accredited institution.
o Graduated from an accredited institution within the past 3 months; or
