Job Description:

The Herbert Wertheim College of Engineering (HWCOE) at the University of Florida is soliciting applications for Visiting Assistant Instructional Professor positions. These will be full-time, nine-month, non-tenure-track time-limited faculty positions at the rank of Visiting Lecturer (working title Visiting Assistant Instructional Professor). These positions will fill immediate instructional needs starting Fall 2026.

Assigned areas will include but not be limited to:

  • Engineering Education
  • Chemical Engineering
  • Biomedical Engineering
  • Materials Science & Engineering
  • Engineering Leadership
  • Engineering Innovation

This is a training preparation program for recently graduated PhD students and other identified faculty ready for formal training in educational methods and practices. The HWCOE Department of Engineering Education will invest resources in these visiting faculty with an engineering education and pedagogy-based training program for future faculty. These visiting instructional professors will gain rigorous training and support to excel as instructors and mentors for undergraduate engineering students. Participants may take courses in the Department of Engineering Education as available and/or attend other UF-supported instructional training programs such as the Center for Teaching Excellence (CTE) Passport to Great Teaching Program. These visiting instructional faculty, as part of their appointment, will serve as instructors of record for key undergraduate engineering courses with critical needs across the curriculum. They will also participate in the UF CTE Interface Conference and present their education-supported impact on their instructed courses.


Expected Salary:

$60,652


Required Qualifications:

Ph.D.


Preferred:

Ph.D. in Engineering, Closely Related Field, or Assigned Areas

Technical expertise in one or more of the assigned areas listed above.

Demonstrated interest and experience working with and mentoring undergraduate students in engineering, closely related fields, or assigned areas.
