Job Description

The Department of Chemistry at the College of the Holy Cross invites applications for a visiting full-time faculty position for the Spring 2026 semester to begin in early January.

This visiting position is a one semester replacement position. This colleague would

serve as the General Chemistry Laboratory Supervisor and teach 6 sections of CHEM 231 laboratory ( Equilibrium and Reactivity, General Chemistry II) in the spring.

Key job responsibilities include:

● Co-teaching 6 General Chemistry II lab courses with Chemistry faculty

● Lab preparation and instrument maintenance

● Content development and overseeing grading with TA support

● Office hours and providing additional student support outside of lab hours

● Attending department meetings and seminars

A PhD in Chemistry is preferred but candidates with a Master’s degree in

Chemistry or a PhD in a related scientific discipline will be considered.

Visiting full-time faculty are eligible to apply for support to present at a conference or

attend a professional development program through the Provost’s Supplemental

Research Fund. The College will support reimbursement of relocation costs within its

published policies. All full-time appointments offer competitive salaries and include full benefits.

The salary for this one semester full-time visiting position will be at least $34,000.

Candidates must demonstrate commitment to, and excellence in, undergraduate teaching and inclusive pedagogies as informed by current practice and scholarship in the field.
