The Department of Food Science and Technology within the College of Food, Agriculture, and Environmental Sciences seeks a Visiting Fellow for a temporary appointment of less than one year. The Visiting Fellow will apply mathematical and scientific principles to support the design, development, and operational evaluation of systems, equipment, and facilities used in the production, processing, storage, handling, distribution, and utilization of food, feed, and fiber.

Essential Duties

• Apply engineering, mathematical, and scientific principles to evaluate food and agricultural production systems
• Support the design and optimization of equipment and processes related to food, feed, and fiber systems
• Contribute to analysis of processing, storage, and distribution systems to improve efficiency and performance
• Assist with research activities, data analysis, and technical reporting
• Collaborate with faculty, researchers, and staff on departmental projects and initiatives
• Support operational evaluations of facilities and systems within food science and technology programs
• Participate in ongoing research and scholarly activities within the department

Appointment Details

• Temporary position with a duration of less than one year
• Visiting Fellow designation intended for short-term scholarly or technical contributions
• Personal funding is required, and a living stipend is provided by the unit

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in food science, agricultural engineering, biological engineering, or a closely related field

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience applying quantitative or engineering principles to food or agricultural systems
• Familiarity with food processing, storage, or distribution systems
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
• Ability to work collaboratively in a research or academic environment
