Job Description
The Department of Sociology and Anthropology at Ashoka University invites applications for three Visiting Faculty positions (open rank) for the 2026–2027 academic year. Appointments are available for the following semesters:
- Monsoon Semester: August 25 – December 13, 2026
- Spring Semester: January 19 – May 9, 2027
Applicants may apply to teach in either one semester or both. Please indicate your availability clearly in your cover letter.
While the search is open to all areas of specialization, we are particularly interested in candidates whose research and teaching engage with Science and Technology Studies (STS), Gender and Sexuality, Caste and Social Stratification, Legal Anthropology, or Medical Anthropology
Qualifications
Successful candidates will be expected to:
- Hold a PhD in Anthropology, Sociology, or an allied field
- Demonstrate a strong record of teaching and an active, competitive research profile
- Teach two courses per semester, across foundation, intermediate, and advanced levels
- Contribute actively to the intellectual life of the department, including seminars, workshops, and academic events
