School for International Training (SIT) seeks a Visiting Faculty member to join an interdisciplinary team of faculty and staff leading IHP' s Comparative Public Health program. Each semester term enrolls approximately 10-25 students from leading U.S. colleges and universities to engage in comparative, interdisciplinary exploration of public health and well-being across three European countries. The Visiting Faculty travels with students to each location for the full duration of the semester. Please note that the following itinerary reflects tentative future semesters, but itineraries are contingent on conditions in each country and program needs: Lisbon, Amsterdam and Athens. Students spend five weeks in each location. They enroll in four classes (4 credits each) which are taught from different country perspectives throughout the semester.
For compliance with local labor and employment laws and when circumstance warrants, the Visiting Faculty will have a local employment contract through an affiliated local entity or as determined by SIT.
IHP Europe Comparative Public Health is a multi-country program that provides a comparative, interdisciplinary exploration of public health and well-being across three European countries, grounded in the overarching goals of the European Health Union and the EU4Health program. Students will engage deeply with core topics in epidemiology, infectious disease surveillance and response, and determinants of health. The curriculum is designed around inquiry-based learning, blending academic coursework with experiential opportunities such as field research, simulations, and visits to healthcare agencies, NGOs, and public health institutions. IHP's learning model is grounded in critical inquiry and analysis but attempts to bring those skills to bear on particular places and themes. It also helps students learn how to interact with a variety of local actors representing different perspectives, practices, and policies around public health in Europe.
More information on IHP Europe and the IHP Europe Comparative Public Health program (including more detailed itineraries and course descriptions) can be found at: https://studyabroad.sit.edu/program/fall-2026-ihp-europe-comparative-public-health/
The Visiting Faculty member will collaborate closely with the Associate Dean of IHP Europe and local SIT staff/partners to ensure a comprehensive and seamless learning experience for students.

Traveling with college-aged students for an entire semester, guiding their learning and field research in cities and rural environments, as well as conducting classroom discussions and small-group seminars, presents unique challenges, and demands unique qualities of faculty members. Please consider this point carefully in your letter of interest, paying special attention to how you would handle the conceptual, pedagogical, intercultural, and interpersonal demands of this program. What in your academic background and work experience has prepared you to step into this role? What specifically interests you about this visiting faculty opportunity as opposed to a more traditional academic position?
Travel insurance provided outside of home base and subject to plan terms.
