Job Description

Centre College is seeking a candidate pool that is rich in thought for aVisiting Assistant Professor of Theatre (Design & Technical Theatre), beginning August 2025.

This two-year visitor will serve as the design expert for the Theatre program at Centre College. Faculty carry a 3-3 load (distributed across two long terms and our 3-week January term), with course equivalency granted for designing lights, scenery, and/or costumes for 2-4 productions for the season. Classes taught may include:

  • Introduction to Technical Theatre

  • Introduction to Design

  • Scenic & Costume Design

  • Lighting, Sound, & Projection Design

  • C.A.D.D. for the Stage

  • Other classes as relevant to program needs and individual expertise

This faculty member will also serve as instructor of record for one-credit technical practicum sections. This position works in concert with our Technical Director and Costume Shop Supervisor to execute and manage technical needs for 2-4 productions per season. They will also mentor student designers and collaborate with Theatreprogram and Norton Center for the Arts staff as well as guest designers when needed.

SALARY RANGE: $65,000 - $69,000, commensurate with experience.
