Lafayette College is a small, highly selective undergraduate institution that emphasizes excellent education in both engineering and the liberal arts. The Electrical and Computer Engineering Department enrolls approximately 80 students across all class years and offers small class sizes, extensive hands-on laboratory experiences, and strong support for faculty development. The Department and the Engineering Division provide professional development opportunities through class observations and mentorship. Lafayette College also supports visiting faculty members through the Hanson Center for Inclusive STEM Education and a year-long orientation and development program organized by the Center for the Integration of Teaching, Learning, and Scholarship. Additionally, visiting faculty members receive funding for travel to one professional conference and for undergraduate research assistants.

Lafayette is deeply committed to creating a diverse, inclusive, and responsive community that supports all faculty, students, and staff. The Engineering programs at Lafayette have taken a national leadership role in advancing diversity, as reflected in the most recent ASEE report, which ranks Lafayette among the top 10 in the nation for women on the engineering faculty and among the top 20 for bachelor’s degrees awarded to women. All members of the College community share a responsibility for creating, maintaining, and developing a learning environment in which difference is valued, equity is sought, and inclusiveness is practiced.
