Job Description

The Department of Educational Studies at Knox College invites applications for a full-time Visiting Assistant Professor of Educational Studies, beginning September 1, 2021. This is a one-year visiting appointment (non-tenure track). Knox seeks candidates experienced in working with elementary and/or secondary school aged children as well as experience working with diverse communities of learners in the U.S. or internationally. The Educational Studies Department is particularly interested in creative, energetic teachers of undergraduate students who will contribute to equity within our community through engaging instruction and research. Candidates should have experience working with diverse populations of students and possess a commitment to teach successfully in a multicultural environment.

The successful candidate will model, teach, and promote the department’s philosophy to help students become critical and transformative educators for social justice. We are especially looking for someone with teaching and research background in Educational Psychology and/or teaching Emergent Bilingual youth. Additional areas of interest include history of education and assessment.

The teaching load is 6 undergraduate education courses per year (2 courses per 10-week trimester).

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • Ph.D. or Ed.D. in Education is expected at time of appointment; exceptional ABD candidates will be considered

Preferred Qualifications:

● Minimum of three years teaching experience in a PK-12 environment

● Experience working with curriculum development and teacher licensure
