JOB TITLE:
Teacher/Artist of Trumpet
JOB PURPOSE:
Teacher/Artist of Trumpet, Music Department
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Teach studio trumpet, recruit and maintain a high-quality trumpet studio, coach ensembles, perform as a soloist and in faculty ensembles, participate in outreach activities, and serve as liaison with regional music educators. Teach classes in the jazz area. Work cooperatively with colleagues and students. Establish a reputation for high quality performance in the region, nationally, and internationally. Assume normal professional duties, such as creative activity, service, and student advising. Contribute to the intellectual and cultural life of the University.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
A Doctor of Musical Arts (DMA) is required. Applicant must demonstrate evidence of active professional performance in a variety of musical settings. Preference will be given to candidates who have successful college teaching experience and who have a proven track record in recruiting students and working with public schools. Strong consideration will be given to candidates with studio trumpet teaching. Additional consideration will be given to candidates with jazz/commercial experience and the ability to teach courses such as Historical Perspectives, Jazz Techniques, and/or others. A valid driver's license with a motor vehicle record (MVR) compliant with the Driving for University Business SAP
