
Oklahoma State University, Department of Art, Graphic Design and Art History, Stillwater, OK, invites applications for a full-time Visiting Assistant Professor (VAP) to begin August 2024. The teaching load for this position will be a 4/4 assignment in undergraduate drawing and 2D foundational courses.
OSU is a comprehensive land-grant institution that is nationally known for its teaching, research, and outreach programs. Approximately 29,000 students are enrolled at the OSU-Stillwater campus and 3,500 at the OSU-Tulsa campus. The Art Department has an enrollment of 270 majors taught by 18 tenured/tenure track and 6 adjunct faculty members. It offers BA degrees in Studio Art and Art History, BFA degrees in Studio Art and Graphic Design, an MA in Art History, and a MFA in Graphic Design as of Fall 2016. Facilities include fully equipped studios for all areas, large Mac/PC labs, a Visual Resources Center, and a gallery.
Candidates must have an MFA at the time of appointment, and previous experience teaching painting, drawing and 2D foundations at the university level. The ideal candidate will demonstrate an understanding of historical and contemporary art issues, methods, and technologies that can be observed in their personal work and that of their students. Applicants with experience using Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop are also preferred.
