An Assistant Professor is a faculty member who has completed a terminal degree (e.g., doctorate) in the area in which the faculty member will be teaching. Assistant Professors have demonstrated competence in facilitating learning, in scholarship, and in service, or any combination of those activities.
When circumstances warrant, faculty who hold academic appointments with other universities may be hired temporarily at the rank of Visiting Assistant Professor. Faculty hired into these ranks meet the qualifications of faculty at their rank, but they are not on a track that may lead to a rolling contract.
Salary Range: $80,643.25 annualized Step 1, exempt position.

Minimum Qualifications:
Education: Doctoral or equivalent terminal degree from an accredited college or university
Experience: Adequate years of experience in the areas involved in assignments; documented potential in the areas of facilitating learning, scholarship, and service, as applicable to assignments; and if appropriate, a record of meritorious performance of the duties and obligations of an Instructor.
Certifications, Licenses, etc.: None, unless required by program being taught

Duties Required of All Faculty - Certain duties are additionally required of all faculty and are not given formal workload credit but will be included in yearly evaluations. These include but are not limited to:

Direct Reports: Teaching or Research Assistant, when assigned.
Indirect Reports: None.
Contact Responsibility:
Internal: Interacts with supervisor to receive direction and instructions and/or review of work results. This position works closely with colleagues in multiple departments (i.e. Admissions, Student Advising, Registrar, etc.) to support both students and colleagues in achieving student success and Department goals.
External: Interacts with prospective students, to provide advice and support. Interacts with accrediting and regulatory agencies as required.
Primary Work Location, Hours & Travel Requirements:
Office Location: San Diego Campus: 10455 Pomerado Road San Diego, CA 92131.
Work Hours: Standard office hours, occasional evenings or weekends may be required depending upon course schedule.
