The Greenwood School of Music seeks a full-time Visiting Assistant Professor of Music to serve as the Assistant Director of Bands.
Serve as the assistant director of the Cowboy Marching Band, including teaching responsibilities, participation in the creative design process, drill design and/or music arranging, student leadership development, and other administrative responsibilities. Conduct the OSU Concert Band. Direct or co-direct the OSU Spirit Band (basketball pep band). Teach courses in music education according to the candidate's expertise. Assist with the observation of instrumental music education student teachers. In addition to instructional assignments, all music faculty are expected to be productive as scholars/artists and to engage in departmental, university and professional service.
The University (25,000 students at its main campus in Stillwater) is located approximately 65 miles from Tulsa and Oklahoma City. The Greenwood School of Music has thirty-six full-time and thirteen part-time faculty members and is accredited by the National Association of Schools of Music. The School offers the degrees of Master of Music (with options in applied music or conducting); Bachelor of Music (with options in music education and performance); Bachelor of Arts; and Bachelor of Science in Music Industry. Earned doctorate preferred. Masters required. Evidence of successful teaching experience at the university level preferred. Background in public school music education preferred.
