Job Description

The College of Arts and Sciences at Oklahoma State University seeks to hire a Visiting Assistant Professor of Africana Studies, beginning Fall 2023. We seek an interdisciplinary teacher-scholar working in any time-period, whose teaching and research engages with major themes of Black or Africana Studies from a national, regional, global or transnational perspective. We are equally interested in work situated within African, African American, or diasporic studies. The successful candidate will teach three to four courses a semester, including the introductory African American Studies course, along with upper-level courses. Teaching at the OSU-Tulsa campus is also a possibility; if so the assignment would include travel support.

Qualifications

Minimum qualifications for the position include: a Ph.D. or terminal degree in a relevant field in the arts, humanities, or social sciences; significant teaching experience, and evidence of commitment to excellence in teaching; evidence of scholarly potential; and a demonstrated commitment to building equitable, diverse classroom and research environments.
