As a Vision Engineer, you will be supporting vision applications for semiconductor quality inspection, integrated on Cohu machines.


You will play an important role in:

• Perform vision setup, calibration, installation, troubleshooting, optimization, and integration on Cohu machines in factory and on-site with good quality and robustness.

• Understand customer inspection requirements from customer datasheets, defect criteria, and in-ternal vision checklists; select and implement suitable vision applications and hardware.

• Support or lead integration for new machines, retrofit activities, kit upgrades, and sustaining issues.

• Maintain working knowledge of vision BOM, hardware capability, customer defect criteria, reject validation, and optimization methods.

• Support new development release and validation activities together with Vision Product Engineer-ing, Vision Application Engineering, and related functions.

• Handle customer and factory escalations with support from senior team members or relevant engi-neering functions when required.

• Support machine retrofit and kit upgrade execution, including BOM creation, RFQ support, drawing review, buyoff coordination, alternate source checking, and recipe validation / implementation.

• Conduct internal and external training on vision applications, inspection features, and machine us-age where required.

• Ensure compliance with work instructions, documentation standards, backup practices, antivirus scan requirements, and robust process control before machine shipment.

• Manage vision lab readiness, engineering test benches, inventories, and maintain good 5S stand-ards.

• Builds and applies established machine vision knowledge under guidance; focuses on execution dis-cipline, learning, and delivery of assigned scope.

Technical Expertise

• Develops core technical skills in machine vision applications, including camera, optics, lighting, rec-ipe setup, and machine integration.

• Completes assigned projects using standard or established vision solutions under guidance.

• Builds familiarity with defect criteria, checklist-based setup, reject validation, and troubleshooting methods.

Execution and Delivery

• Delivers assigned work with supervision and follows established process, documentation, and vali-dation requirements.

• Supports machine build, buyoff, on-site setup, and sustaining actions within agreed timelines.

Communication and Collaboration

• Communicates progress, blockers, and support clearly to team members.

• Works effectively with peers in Applications, Product Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Manu-facturing, and Service.

Leadership and Strategy

• Demonstrates ownership of assigned tasks and contributes positively to team culture.

• Learns established engineering practices and apply them consistently.

Continuous Improvement

• Seeks feedback, learns from issues, and contributes to improving work quality and repeatability.

• Supports documentation updates and process compliance.

To be successful in this role, you need to have:

•Bachelor’s Degree, Diploma, or Certificate in applied science, electronics, mechanical, mechatronics, computer engineering, or related engineering field.

•Experience in image processing applications is required; experience in Final Test platform is pre-ferred. Added advantages for Cohu Turret / Inspection or other product line exposure.

•Good knowledge of vision camera, optics, lighting, and basic machine integration is required.

•Strong analytical problem-solving skills, self-motivation, and ability to work independently and in a team environment.

•Good spoken and written English communication skills.

•Flexibility for extended hours, shift rotation, weekend support, and occasional travel when required.
