About the role
This role leads hands-on media operations and the implementation of innovative solutions within integrated media plans. You will improve media investment efficiency to drive sustainable business growth, with the ability to execute inside the organization rather than relying entirely on agencies. You will also apply advanced targeting and store-traffic strategies using the latest technologies, and lead implementation of innovative digital solutions for the Japanese market in collaboration with global teams.
Four focus areas for this role
Execution capability and PDCA leadership
Independently manage ad accounts (operations, bidding, creative testing, etc.), owning campaign setup, optimization, and reporting. Design, execute and iterate media tactics using your own expertise rather than relying solely on agencies.
Advanced targeting expertise
Understand and apply digital data (including 1st/2nd/3rd party), modern identification and targeting technologies, and privacy-aware targeting methods to reach specific consumer segments with high precision.
Proven experience driving store/channel traffic
Plan and operate location- or store-level traffic-driving tactics (geo-targeting, map-integrated initiatives, local search-linked campaigns, etc.) that successfully direct consumers to retail partners and drive in-store conversions.
Leadership in implementing and localizing innovative solutions
Lead customization and implementation of novel initiatives or global digital products for the Japanese market, and drive mid-term rollout of unique, competitive services enabled by the latest digital technologies.
Key responsibilities
Develop integrated media plans and run media operations across channels (TV commercials, digital, video, connected TV, social, search, programmatic, etc.).
Lead day-to-day and weekly bidding/distribution optimizations, design creative experiments, and run PDCA including A/B tests and incrementality evaluations.
Manage agency selection and oversight (objective setting, SLAs, briefing, performance reviews) while building and training an in-house operational capability independent of agencies.
Design and operate integrated measurement frameworks (attribution, incrementality, closed-loop measurement) and work closely with data teams.
Plan, implement and evaluate local store-traffic initiatives (geo-targeting, local search optimization, location-based delivery, map-linked campaigns).
Evaluate new technologies and products, run pilots, and lead localization and implementation of global solutions for Japan.
Manage media budgets, adhere to procurement governance, and handle vendor negotiations and contracts.
Required skills & experience
Minimum of about 5 years of practical experience in digital media / performance marketing, with hands-on ad account operation, bidding optimization, and campaign design.
Proven planning and optimization experience across multi-channel environments (TV, search, social, video, programmatic, etc.).
Data-driven analytical skills and practical experience with KPI definition, A/B testing, incrementality measurement, and attribution concepts.
Track record of planning and executing local/store-traffic initiatives (geo-targeting, location-based tactics, map-integrated campaigns).
Knowledge of new marketing technologies and ad measurement solutions and experience driving their adoption.
Practical skills in stakeholder management, agency oversight, and vendor negotiations.
Preferred skills & experience
Experience in consumer goods (FMCG) or retail channel marketing.
Experience designing and executing customer data platforms, segmentation, and personalization initiatives.
Experience leading localization of global projects (introducing overseas solutions to the Japanese market).
Business-level English for documentation, reporting, and collaboration with global teams.
