The Role:

We are looking for an experienced Virtualization Administrator to join our IT Infrastructure team and ensure the stability, security, availability, and continuous improvement of our enterprise virtualization platforms.

In this role, you will be responsible for the day-to-day administration, maintenance, monitoring, and optimization of VMware vSphere and VMware Cloud Foundation (VCF) environments. You will play a key role in ensuring reliable infrastructure operations, managing incidents and changes, implementing automation solutions, and maintaining platform performance and security.

Working under the supervision of the IT Infrastructure Team Lead, you will collaborate closely with infrastructure, storage, backup, networking, security, and application teams to support critical IT services and contribute to ongoing infrastructure improvement initiatives.

Responsibilities:

• Administer, configure, maintain, and troubleshoot VMware vSphere and VMware Cloud Foundation (VCF) environments.
• Monitor virtualization infrastructure health, availability, performance, and capacity, proactively identifying and resolving potential issues.
• Perform lifecycle management activities, including patching, host upgrades, and approved configuration changes.
• Manage and resolve incidents, service requests, and infrastructure problems while ensuring minimal service disruption.
• Implement security best practices and ensure compliance with infrastructure standards and operational procedures.
• Develop and maintain automation scripts and Infrastructure as Code (IaC) solutions using tools such as Terraform, Python, PowerShell, and Ansible.
• Support virtualization provisioning, configuration management, and monitoring activities.
• Collaborate with cross-functional IT teams and external vendors on infrastructure projects and service improvements.
• Maintain accurate technical documentation and provide regular updates on infrastructure performance, capacity, and operational activities.
• Contribute to technology assessments, proof-of-concept initiatives, and the continuous improvement of virtualization services.
• Provide technical guidance to junior team members and escalate complex issues when required.

What We’re Looking For:

• 5+ years of experience in enterprise virtualization administration, supporting and operating production-grade infrastructure.
• Strong hands-on experience with VMware vSphere and VMware Cloud Foundation (VCF), including VCF Operations and VCF Automation.
• Practical knowledge of virtualization deployment, configuration, lifecycle management, monitoring, and troubleshooting.
• Strong scripting and automation skills, particularly with Python, PowerShell, Terraform, or Ansible.
• Experience applying Infrastructure as Code (IaC) principles, particularly using Terraform to provision and manage VMware vSphere resources.
• Familiarity with alternative virtualization technologies such as Microsoft Hyper-V, Nutanix, and KVM/OLVM.
• Good understanding of storage, networking, backup solutions, server hardware, and operating-system dependencies.
• Ability to work independently, troubleshoot technical issues methodically, and follow established operational and change-management procedures.
• Professional proficiency in English; knowledge of Spanish is an advantage.
• Relevant technical education, specialized IT training, or equivalent practical experience.
• Experience with public cloud platforms and storage management in virtualized environments.
• Knowledge of container technologies such as Docker and Kubernetes.
• Familiarity with configuration-management tools such as Ansible, Puppet, or Chef.
• Knowledge of Continuous Data Protection (CDP) solutions.
• Relevant certifications, such as VMware Certified Professional (VCP-VCF Administrator), VCAP-VCF, HashiCorp Terraform Associate, Red Hat Ansible Automation, ITIL, ISO 20000, or PRINCE2.
• Strong teamwork and collaboration skills, with the ability to build effective working relationships.
• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
• Proactive and results-oriented mindset, with a strong sense of ownership and accountability.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
• Adaptability and ability to work effectively in changing environments.
• Good organizational and time-management skills, with the ability to manage priorities and work under pressure.

Salary proposition:

250€/day freelance agreement.
