About the Position

Harris Health is seeking a Virtual Patient Observation Technician (VPOT) to join the team at Ben Taub Hospital for a part-time evening shift from 1:00 PM to 9:30 PM.

The VPOT provides constant, real-time video monitoring of assigned patients to help maintain a safe care environment. You will observe patients for at-risk behaviors, provide verbal redirection when appropriate, and communicate directly with nursing staff when additional intervention or assistance is needed.

In this role, you will document observations according to established standards, follow appropriate safety measures, and participate in performance improvement and quality initiatives. You will also interact with patients, families, and staff while promoting a professional, supportive, and customer-friendly environment.

This position requires exceptional attention to detail, the ability to continuously monitor multiple patients, sound judgment, and the ability to make timely decisions under pressure.

Requirements

  • Education
  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Technical skills or training appropriate to the specialty area
  • Licensure and Certification
  • Texas Nursing Assistant Certification; OR
  • Medical Assistant certification from one of the following:
  • American Medical Technologists (AMT)
  • American Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA)
  • National Center for Competency Testing (NCCT)
  • National Healthcareer Association (NHA)
  • National Association for Health Professionals (NAHP)
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
  • Experience
  • Minimum of 2 years of related clinical experience required
  • Related specialty experience preferred, including:
  • Direct patient care
  • Virtual patient observation
  • Telemetry technician experience
  • Hospital environment experience
  • Nursing program clinical rotations
  • Communication and Language Skills
  • Strong verbal communication skills
  • English/Spanish bilingual skills preferred
  • Written communication and report-writing skills
  • Professional telephone etiquette
