Virtual / Online Special Education Teacher

Position Overview

Emmett School District is seeking a Special Education Teacher experienced in Resource Room services to support students through Emmett Virtual Prep. Idaho Certification in Special Education K-12 is required.

The ideal candidate will have experience delivering specialized instruction across K-12 grade levels in a virtual or hybrid environment and supporting students with academic, behavioral, and executive functioning needs through online instruction and collaboration.

This position requires strong skills in:

• Providing specially designed instruction through virtual and home school based platforms
• Collaborating with online general education teachers and parents to ensure implementation of IEP accommodations and modifications
• Coordinating related services
• Maintaining compliance with Idaho Special Education requirements
• Utilizing curriculum modifications and virtual learning systems
• Supporting student engagement and behavioral needs in online and homeschool settings

Work Setting

This position operates in a hybrid model that includes:

• Remote work from home
• Time in-office collaboration, as determined by Emmett Virtual Prep and Special Education Administration

Position Purpose

The Virtual Special Education Teacher will:

• Assess student needs
• Lead IEP Teams in the development and implementation of Individualized Education Programs (IEPs)
• Provide specially designed instruction within a virtual/homeschool learning environment
• Support students' academic, social, emotional, behavioral, and functional development through:
• Online instruction
• Collaboration
• Consultation
• Case management

The teacher will collaborate closely with:

• Virtual general education teachers
• Homeschool supporting general education teachers
• School psychologists
• Related service providers
• Emmett Virtual Prep Administration
• Registrar
• Special Education Administrative Assistant

This collaboration ensures:

• Compliance with state and federal regulations
• Coordination of services
• Accurate student records
• Successful implementation of IEP services

The position requires:

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Instruction & Student Support

• Provide virtual specially designed instruction and resource support to students across content areas
• Deliver instruction through:
• Synchronous online instruction
• Small groups
• Individual instruction
• Consultation services
• Support student participation in online general education classes through:
• Accommodations
• Curriculum modifications
• Supplemental instruction
• Collaboration with virtual general education teachers
• Employ a variety of instructional techniques, engagement strategies, behavior supports, and technology tools to address individual student needs
• Support students and families in accessing:

• Effective at home learning strategies

IEP Development & Compliance

• Develop and implement ongoing Individualized Education Programs (IEPs)
• Lead and facilitate:
• Virtual IEP meetings
• Eligibility meetings
• Reevaluations
• Multidisciplinary team meetings
• Develop measurable learning goals aligned with Idaho standards
• Meet all:
• Eligibility timelines
• Evaluation timelines
• IEP timelines
• Progress reporting requirements

Collaboration & Coordination

• Coordinate and collaborate with online general education teachers to ensure:
• Accommodations are implemented

• Supplementary aids and services are provided
• Behavior supports are consistently applied
• Provide consultation regarding:
• Intervention strategies
• Student engagement
• Executive functioning supports
• Instructional access
• Behavioral supports
• Coordinate scheduling and facilitation of related services, including collaboration with:
• Speech-language pathologists
• Occupational therapists
• Physical therapists
• School psychologists
• Counselors
• Other service providers
• Collaborate with:
• Emmett Virtual Prep Administration
• Registrar
• Special Education Administrative Assistant
• Ensure accurate:

Progress Monitoring & Communication

• Monitor student progress on IEP goals at least bi-weekly
• Maintain accurate progress monitoring data
• Communicate student progress to:
• Parents
• General education teachers
• Appropriate personnel
• Participate in:
• Parent-teacher conferences
• Annual reviews
• Reevaluations
• Manifestation determinations
• Transition planning meetings
• Multidisciplinary collaboration meetings

Qualifications Profile

Certification / License

• Idaho State Certification as a Special Education Teacher/K-12 Exceptional Child

Education

• Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in an education discipline applicable to the teaching assignment

Experience

• Successful prior special education teaching experience preferred
• Experience providing:
