Job Description

Working in close collaboration with a diverse and high functioning patient care delivery team, the Virtual Care Nurse is a central resource in caring for patients remotely. The overreaching goal of the Virtual Care Nurse is being responsible and accountable for coordinating timely, safe, effective care to patients remotely using a high level of technical and organizational skills as well as critical thinking ability.

The Virtual Care Nurse will be responsible for the coordination of all patient care activities remotely, including screening, triage, coordination of a multi-disciplinary team for safe, timely and high-quality care. This responsibility requires the Virtual Care Nurse to be a proficient and experienced clinician possessing an in-depth knowledge in all aspects of nursing care. It also requires frequent collaboration with customers, physicians, and leaders, requiring expert level communication skills.

The scope of responsibility, duties and accountability at the facility, department and position levels including knowledge and practice of the clinical/technical skills necessary to the position consistent with the Nurse Practice Act. Nursing job duties are to meet the Nurse Practice Act (state law that protects patients by promoting safe, competent nursing practices), Title 22 (Health and Safety codes), The Joint Commission (develops performance standards and accredits programs for hospitals and other healthcare-related organizations) and the Plan for Provision of Nursing Care and the Plan for Provision of Care to Patients, and other regulatory requirements.

Qualifications

Education
  • Assoc. Degree/College Diploma Nursing - minimum
  • Bachelor's Degree Science in Nursing - state accredited program - preferred

Experience
  • 3 years Acute care nursing experience in a specialty area - minimum
  • 3 years Acute care nursing experience in critical care - preferred
  • 1 year Charge or Supervisory experience - preferred
  • 1 year Clinical Nurse III at CSMC for at least one (1) year, internally - preferred
  • 1 year Virtual Care Nurse and/or nursing informatics experience - minimum

Licenses and Certifications
  • RN State License - Upon Hire minimum California RN State License
  • Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS/ALS) - Upon Hire minimum
  • ANCC Specialty Certification - 1 Year preferred
  • ANCC Specialty Certification - Upon Hire minimum Per Diem Population Only
