Purpose of the role

You’ll be responsible for preparing, painting, vinyl wrapping and finishing Formula One components—delivering the highest standard of visual excellence without ever compromising aerodynamic performance.

What you’ll do

  • Prepare surfaces to ensure flawless finish and protect aerodynamic performance

  • Carry out detailed masking and re-masking to achieve precision finishing

  • Apply vinyl wraps and detailing to the highest standards, including critical edge treatments

  • Spray paint components in line with design and marketing intent across race and show car programmes

  • Finish 3D printed parts, tooling and pattern work

  • Drive weight optimisation while maintaining uncompromised quality

  • Work safely and in line with all health and safety requirements

Requirements

What you’ll bring

  • Experience in high-end paint processes (masking, priming, colour finishing) within motorsport or similar industries

  • Strong knowledge of vinyl application techniques and finishing standards

  • Understanding of composite components and their finishing to F1 aerodynamic and brand standards

  • Experience in process improvement and continuous development

McLaren Racing is based at the iconic McLaren Technology Centre (MTC) near Woking. The MTC is connected to Woking mainline station via regular shuttle buses, from which London Waterloo is a 30-minute train ride.

McLaren Racing was founded by racing driver Bruce McLaren in 1963. The team entered its first Formula 1 race in 1966. McLaren has since won 21 Formula 1 world championships, 189 Formula 1 Grands Prix, the Indianapolis 500 three times, and the Le Mans 24 Hours at its first attempt.

 

McLaren Racing competes across six racing series. The team competes in the FIA Formula 1 World Championship with McLaren F1 drivers Lando Norris and Oscar Piastri, the NTT INDYCAR SERIES with Arrow McLaren drivers Pato O’Ward, Alexander Rossi and Nolan Siegel, the ABB FIA Formula E World Championship with NEOM McLaren Formula E Team drivers Sam Bird and Taylor Barnard, the Extreme E Championship with NEOM McLaren Extreme E Team drivers Cristina Gutiérrez and Mattias Ekström, and F1 Academy with ART Grand Prix and Driver Development programme member Bianca Bustamante.
